Hi I'm Jordan

I'm a tennis coach. I'm studying to be a firefighter. I'm a skier. I'm an artist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town called Abilene Kansas. Growing up I loved to play sports. My favorite was tennis. The summer after I graduated I played tennis every morning for about 4 hours with my friends, and this is when my love for the sport really blossomed. I first attend the University of Kansas and was studying to be an aerospace engineer. After my first semester I left home for 2 years to serve a mission in Berlin Germany. There I was able to meet many great people and teach them about faith in Jesus Christ, Repentance and Baptism. It was a grand time. I returned and changed my major to German. After another wonderful semester at KU I left for the summer to work as a roofer in Montana. After a fantastic summer I decided it would be best to take another semester off to save money to pay for school, and quite spontaneously moved to Provo Utah. It was over the summer I decided that I wanted to be a firefighter, and set the goals to make it happen! I am currently taking classes at Utah Valley University and receiving training to become a firefighter. Once completed I plan to continue to go to school and further my study of the German language. Since moving here I have found a deep passion for the fresh Utah powder! Skiing is my life in the winter. LOVE IT! Hiking in Utah is dope! Winter I can ski. Spring, Summer, and Fall I can play tennis, hike, roller blade and live life! I am also an aspiring artist!

Why I am a Mormon

There are lots of reasons why I am a Mormon. All of my reasons come back to the Book of Mormon. The missionaries will always teach you to read it and pray and ask God if it is true. When I was 12 years old I read through it for the first time. It was exciting to read the stories I had grown up hearing in church and from my parents. Once I had finished nothing really changed. I continued to pray and read and go to church, however from that time I really started to develop a deep love for the scriptures. The more I read in the Bible and Book of Mormon the more I learned and understood. Through the scriptures I came to know my savior. I have applied the principles taught in them and know they are good. I have felt the power of forgiveness in my life through Jesus Christ. For me the Book of Mormon has helped me come to a knowledge of the divinity of Jesus Christ. It is a witness that He is the son of God, that He came to earth, and was resurrected. Because I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by just doing it. I mean it is pretty simple. You just do it. It is pretty simple to love God, and to love your neighbor. There are plenty of other things that we need to do but all the other wonderful principles of Christ's gospel stem from those 2 commandment. I live my faith by keeping the commandments God gives to us. I try to remember the blessings God has given to me everyday. When I remember how blessed I am, I am always happier. Remembering the things God has done for me helps me appreciate every aspect of my life. I live my faith by being happy. I totally believe that if we follow Jesus Christ we will find the ultimate endless source of all joy.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Jordan
The atonement of Jesus Christ is the center of all that Mormons believe. Everything we do is centered around Jesus Christ and remembering his sacrifice. The atonement of Jesus Christ consists of His suffering in the garden of Gethsemane where he took upon himself all of our sins, pains, transgressions, griefs and sorrows (Alma 7:11-13), His death on the cross, and His resurrection. Christ came to earth to fulfill the plan of salvation. When we are born we are forever cut off from the presence of God. Through the gospel of Jesus Christ and His atonement we can return to live with God again. Christ's sacrifice is an expression of love and because He was perfect and without sin and performed the atonement suffering for our sins in our behalf, He is able to overcome the demands of justice and bring us back to live with God if we follow Him. We follow Christ by exercising faith in Jesus Christ, repenting of our sins, being baptized, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. Through following Him we can be made clean and found worthy to live with God again. By the atonement of Jesus Christ we are forgiven of our sins. By exercising faith and repenting we can begin to understand and feel the power of the atonement in our lives and come to a personal knowledge of the power it has. I have felt the power of forgiveness as I have repented of my mistakes. Show more Show less
