Hi I'm Skyler

I grew up in San Antonio, TX and consider myself a Texan. Like all good Texans I love my wife, baby and sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am attending college right now and am an excited future father. My wife will graduate with her bachelor's degree this year and have the baby shortly thereafter! I love to compete in sports and serve others in the community and in our church. I played basketball and tennis in high school while also attaining other rewards like the Eagle Scout Award. When I was 19 years old I left good ole' Texas to serve a full-time mission in Rome, Italy for two years. I can speak Italian fluently and miss being around those incredible people - so full of passion and rich in tradition! Now I am more career and family focused. I am going to graduate with a bachelor's degree in Sociology and continue on to graduate school to get an MBA. Eventually I'd like to pursue a PHD as well, but we'll see what happens.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for three main reasons: 1) living by the teachings of the church of Jesus Christ makes me happy, 2) those teachings help me realize that my life has significance, and 3) I can contribute in this world meaningfully. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church of God in these times because I have received a witness for myself. In fact, I receive spiritual confirmations everyday because the Lord blesses me for living according to His commandments and seeking to do His will. Experience after experience has taught me that the Lord loves us and wants us to be happy. His church is a means to bless us individually and as a family. Understanding God's plan for me has given me strength and hope. I know that He truly loves me, knows me, and has great plans for me. I am grateful for His mercy and also His trust in me to help Him as an instrument in His hands. I feel like God has given me so much and He wants me to use my talents and abilities to bless others' lives. I am nothing without Him, but can do anything with Him.

How I live my faith

Everyone has a non-paid position in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - even the Prophet! We each serve in our own position for a time and are called to serve in different positions periodically. A person could serve as bishop for 3 years and then the next Sunday serve as a teacher to 5 year old children. We all serve in whatever capacity the Lord asks in our church. We also serve in the community and donate regularly to help the poor and the needy. Service is a big part of our church. Outside church and community service, I try to live my faith by acting how I believe Jesus Christ would want me to act and I have fun with it.
