Hi I'm Willson

I grew up in Southern California. I love the outdoors, sports, and music. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in South Carolina. I love sports, food, and the outdoors. Music also means a lot to me. There is a power in music that is so unique and it has had a great influence in my life. And it has helped me to feel God's sincere love. Most importantly, I love being happy. I love to smile, laugh, and have fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I used to go to church just because it was something that my mom took me to. However, when I was twelve I stopped going to church and would go do other things on Sundays. At that time I wasn't seeking to know truth in this life. After two years of not being active in the Church, I finally began to go again with the encouragement and help of a friend. As I continued to go back to church each Sunday, I began to feel more comfortable going, and my faith slowly but surely began to grow. I have been going to church ever since then, and have personally prayed to God for answers about the Church and the truths that it teaches. God has answered my prayers many times. I now know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints contains all of the truth that God has put on this Earth. I now know that Jesus Christ has made it possible for each one of us to have the opportunity to see our Father in Heaven again one day, and to be able to live with the ones we love forever. I know that God has given us commandments to help us to be happy and to become like Him one day. I know that we are each a child of God and He loves each one of us beyond our own understanding. I have felt God's love for me as His son, and it makes me so happy and comforted to know that I have a loving Father and friend who is looking out for me. I have chosen to continue to be a member of this Church because its foundation, the full gospel of Jesus Christ, has brought me true happiness.

How I live my faith

I try my best to live my faith and uphold my standards. In high school I participated in different sports programs and my teammates came to know and respect my standards. I live these standards because I have learned from living them, that they bring me happiness. I am also now serving a mission for the Church in Columbia, South Carolina where I have the opportunity to tell other people about God's truths that bring hope and happiness into our lives. I am not perfect. I have a lot of weaknesses and a lot of doubts sometimes, but my hope and faith lay a foundation that helps me to keep going. It's this foundation that brings me peace and helps me to enjoy life to the fullest.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement is the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for all mankind. Jesus Christ was the only perfect human being to ever live on the earth. He never committed a sin, and therefore, it was in accordance with the law of justice for him to have to die or suffer like he did. He had power to lay down his life and take it up again. He followed the will of his Father by suffering for the sins and pains of all mankind. It was not in accordance with the law of justice that he should suffer at all, for he did no wrong. Therefore, when he suffered for doing nothing wrong, he was able to overcome the law of justice and bring the law of mercy in to play. He was able to save men from the consequences of their sins if they would repent and come unto him. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ every person can live with God again. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, there is someone who has been through the same challenges that we individually go through, and He is always there for us. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, all can have happiness in this life and the life to come. Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

The priesthood is the authority to act in God's name, and to perform sacred things with His permission. Baptism performed by someone who holds the priesthood is essential. If it is not done by someone who holds the priesthood, it is not bound in heaven. The priesthood is taken from the earth when there are no more authorized servants to run the Savior's church. Christ left his Church built upon his authorized servants, apostles and prophets, as it is mentioned in the Bible. So, when Christ was killed and his apostles were killed or exiled, there were no longer authorized servants of God to lead the Savior's Church. Therefore, the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the priesthood authority gradually disappeared off the earth. But God always brings back the priesthood and authorized servants when He sees that His children are ready again. In the early 1800's, Joseph Smith was called by God to be a prophet, and he was then later visited by three heavenly beings, who were also three of Christ's original apostles, Peter, James and John. They all layed their hands on Joseph Smith's head and gave him the priesthood authority that was given to them by Jesus Christ. Every member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who receives the priesthood can trace their line of priesthood authority all the way back to Jesus Christ. The priesthood authority that will bind baptisms on earth and in heaven has been restored to the Earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. Show more Show less
