Hi I'm Amy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of 5 kids, and was the last to get married! I got married just over 2 years ago, and my husband is the youngest of 5 kids. I work full time while my husband goes to school. I enjoy playing the piano and listening to good music. I love spending time with my family, playing games, watching movies or just talking. When I'm not working or spending time with family, I enjoy going to the gym or engaging in outdoor activities. Although I live in Utah, with snow and cold and mountains, I really love the beach and ocean and warmer climates.

Why I am a Mormon

I love to be happy. I love smiling and laughing and feeling good about myself and my life. The gospel of Jesus Christ brings me joy and allows me to feel as happy as I do. I grew up in a home where we attended church every Sunday and the gospel was taught and lived faithfully. I was happy growing up in the church and continue to feel happy, which is why I am still an active member. Following the teachings of Jesus Christ brings peace to my life. Having an understanding that I lived before I came to this earth, that I have a purpose here in this life, and that there is life after death gives me strength and encouragement to live each day the best that I can.

How I live my faith

I have had wonderful opportunities to give service in the church. Most recently, my husband and I taught Sunday School to a group of 11 year old boys and girls. We taught them from the New Testament each Sunday, which allowed me to gain a better understanding of the scriptures.I've also been able to use my talent of playing the piano in many church meetings. I've accompanied the congregation as they sing hymn as well as accompanying church choirs. Each month, I get to visit with several women from my congregation. We have a spiritual message and talk about our lives. This gives me an opportunity to get to know the women in my neighborhood who I otherwise wouldn't get to know. About 10 years ago I was a missionary for the church. I lived in Seattle, Washington for 18 months and had the opportunity to meet wonderful people there. I taught about the church with people I met every day. I enjoy teaching the gospel.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Missionaries serve throughout most of the world, teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. The missionaries do not have full-time jobs while they are engaged in this work; rather, their missions are funded at their own expense. Most missionaries prepare long before their service for the time they will serve, allowing them to save for this time. In addition, the missionaries may receive financial help from family members or other church members. While most missionaries are young, single men and women, there is an increasing number of older couples who are serving missions. The service is given voluntarily for a period of time from 18-24 months. All missionaries, whether single or married, leave their homes and families to share a message that brings joy and happiness to all who hear and accept it. Show more Show less
