Hi I'm Angie

I love to write, learn, boat, travel, and try new things. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work for a small company called Reading Horizons that provides materials for schools to help struggling readers learn how to read. I love doing what I do because I love to learn and it breaks my heart that there are others that don't have the same access to the mass amounts of information that is available to teach us whatever catches our attention (even if our attention is caught somewhere different every other day...) I love learning because I think it is the key to improvement... and I feel crazy without improvement. I also love to travel because I feel like it wakes up your brain. It is so interesting to learn about people who've grown up in a completely different environment and to learn how they got where they are.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for so many reasons. The key of my faith is that I love God. My Heavenly Father is my best friend and as I've grown up as a member of the Mormon (LDS) church I've had too many experiences to deny not only that Heavenly Father and the Savior and Holy Ghost exist, but that the Mormon church is organized how they want it to be organized. Although we all make mistakes and no one is perfect, the church is organized perfectly. My entire life I've been obsessed with efficiency and I've never found another organization as perfectly organized as this church. Company's run by the best of the best don't think of everything that could go wrong and never have perfect communication... but the church (when it's members strive to run it as it has been organized) is perfectly organized. No man could've organized such a perfect organization. To be as organized as perfectly as it is, it HAD to be organized by a Divine Being(s), and I know that the Mormon church was organized through divine inspiration from our Heavenly Father and the Savior. I also am a Mormom because I love the standards and have found them to not be a restriction, but a source of happiness, peace, and safety. Although we all have challenges, I never cease to be amazed by how well everything works out when I'm trying my hardest to live the gospel according to all of the suggested standards. The Mormon church is not one of rules, but of standards that help us improve and become our happiest selves.

How I live my faith

I participate in my church through weekly attendence on Sunday, which always provides such a source of strength for the coming week. I am currently one of the activity co-chairs for my single's ward. I enjoy planning activities for the people in my ward and getting to know them better. I'm grateful for my assignments because they keep me involved and I get to meet so many interesting people. I also try and attend the temple weekly to feel close to my Heavenly Father and to seek direction in my life. With my obsession for learning, I enjoy attending institute classes during the week (these classes are led by an instructor who teaches gospel prinicples). Living my faith provides spiritual strength but through the friendships I've gained, my life is always enjoyable and full of opportunity for fun. I love knowing people that have my same standards and that want to be the best they can be.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

God is perfect. His love is perfect. I love knowing that my Father in Heaven is perfect because people can be so unstable. Not because we mean to be, there are just so many distractions and emotions that we can experience that it's impossible for anyone to be perfectly stable and dependable all the time. But God never has a bad day. He's never in a bad mood. He's perfectly reliable and dependable. No matter how unstable we feel and the people that we rely on feel... we can always trust God to lead us perfectly. He is the ONLY being that we can always rely on with perfect confidence. The other thing I absolutely love about the nature of God is His inclination for mercy. In the April 2012 General Conference for the Mormon (LDS) Church, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland said: "surely the thing God enjoys most about being God is the thrill of being merciful." I love that! I have a friend that is a Pentecostal Minister and he told me about a sermon he taught once titled: "God's Weakness." He explained to me that what he thought was God's weakness was His love and mercy for mankind. And although I don't think love and mercy are by any means a weakness (I think it takes great strength to love and forgive) I loved the image that his message put in my mind. It made me realize how natural and enjoyable it is for God to forgive us when we sincerely forsake our sins and commit to living as He would have us live. I know that God is excited when we turn to Him for help! Show more Show less
