Hi I'm Devin Santiago

I'm Devin. I'm a college student. I'm studying to be tri or quad lingual. I'm liberal. I love hip hop and rap. And I'm Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 21 year old college student and a newlywed. I didn't get married at 18 because that was my dream for my life at that age, because I got pregnant, or because "that's what Mormons do". I thought I would get married after college, when I had a career and things were more stable. However, when you find the most amazing man you've ever met who makes you happy beyond your wildest dreams and loves you for exactly who you are, you better be smart and hold onto him. People told me that I was stupid and that the only thing on the horizon for such a young person was divorce. Ironically, many of those people had met their former spouses later in life and had dated for an extended period of time, yet still got divorced. After nearly three years of marriage, I have learned and grown in ways that I never would have by this age if I hadn't met my handsome Brazilian husband, Leo. I am studying French, Portuguese, and Spanish and hope to teach in high school someday. I love to dance and will soon begin teaching Zumba. I read constantly and can't get enough of what this world has to teach me. I love my family and can't wait to have one of my own when I am ready. I love my husband's family more than I could ever imagine and am so lucky that we all get along so well. His brothers are my brothers and I am so proud to be related to such great people. I love sports, watching my favorite tv shows, doing virtually anything with my husband, I am a HUGE Apple nerd, and of course, I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is so easy to be a part of something that completes and uplifts you. I am a Mormon because the church is true, and because I can be with my family and loved ones for eternity. I am a Mormon because as different as all of us are, we are all the same and we all wish and hope for the same things.

How I live my faith

I love going to church, especially since my husband and I began attending the spanish branch. It is amazing to see so many humble people gathering together for a mutual purpose and to be exposed to such rich culture and heritage. I look forward to the time when I can work with the Young Women and Young Men in the church, to help them grow and be there for them like my leaders were for me through difficult times.
