Hi I'm Ashley

I grew up in Salt Lake, Utah. I have eight sisters. I love to cook, eat, play volleyball, read, and learn. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to cook, sometimes a little too much. I have a whole bunch of sisters, and an awesome family that I love very much. I also love to read books, and can easily get lost in the others places and things I read about. I really enjoy volleyball, and I love the rain. I go to a good university, and I recently got a mission call to serve for the Mormon church in Concepcion, Chile! I can't wait to go. Life is awesome.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. I grew up in a place where everybody around me grew up in the church. It was always there for me, but the older I got, it seemed the more I was able to fully appreciate why I'm a Mormon. Through my life experiences, I've gotten to see first hand just why the gospel of Jesus Christ really is the most beautiful thing that I've ever known about. The fact that I, even though I continually make many mistakes in life, can continue to learn and grow and be made perfect through the atonement is incredible! As I put my faith into action and do all I can to become like my Savior in this life, it's not only the happiest path in life that you can choose, it is definitely the most fulfilling and most most rewarding way to live. The gospel is all about freedom, happiness, love, and peace. As I live each day as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, there has never been a time where I have regretted being a member of the church. This is because I have sought out understanding for why we live the way we do. I love this church, and I love how Heavenly Father's light and love is weaved into every aspect of it.

How I live my faith

Contrary to popular belief, you probably couldn't pick me out of a crowd and say that I am specifically am Mormon. I like to be stylish in what I wear, staying within the guidelines of modestly I believe are morally decent and are also a part of my church doctrine. I go to church for three hours every Sunday, and every day I devote about 15 minutes of time at least to reading the Bible, the Book of Mormon, or past talks from our prophets. I finished up serving as a leader over 40 women my age at my college as part of my church calling. I got to see how much Heavenly Father loves each one of us, and wants the best for each of us, as I did my best to serve my calling the way He wanted me to. Very soon I'll be off to serve a mission for a year and a half to teach others about the beauty of the gospel, something that I can attribute every aspect of my happiness to in my life. I don't drink alcohol, smoke, or do any drugs, and I am totally okay with that. I know all that stuff just takes away your ability to choose things for your life. I go on dates with boys and we have lots of fun! I don't do any sort of sexual behavior, though, and will take the abstinence route until I am married. That's becoming more and more strange to people, but I am for sure glad I follow this commandment as well. I'm completely happy! I don't need that emotional junk from fooling around in my life. The ability to create another person is a divine gift, a sacred gift. It's not to be taken as a recreational activity. I try to block time to do service for others, including baptisms for the dead and other ordinances in the Temple. There's nothing spooky or weird about what goes on there, promise. It's just full of more beautiful and sacred things, all about aiding with The Plan of Happiness that is a part of the church. I seek personal revelation from Heavenly Father with questions I have, and feel constant comfort and guidance from Him as I live His commandments.
