Hi I'm Shannon

I live in Gilbert, Arizona. I am a teacher, a traveler, a writer, a wife, and a mother. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I received my bachelor's degree in English from Brigham Young University. I have also earned a master's degree in English composition. I am a part-time college English teacher, and I also work as a freelance writer and editor. I love to attend cultural events and AZ Diamondbacks baseball games. My favorite places to travel to (so far) are London and New York City. I love to read, go to movies, eat pasta, and re-organize drawers. I also love to spend time with my four sons and my husband, Travis, and with my extended family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon my entire life. I have always had a strong belief that God knows me personally and that He loves me. Although God will not always take away my trials and heartaches, He will comfort me and strengthen my heart and my character so that I can endure--and even learn from--my hardships. Often, He answers my prayers in quiet and subtle ways that may seem like coincidences on the surface but that only increase my belief that He is always near.

How I live my faith

I am not perfect--so I feel so grateful that I can have many "do-overs," which are made possible by the atonement of Jesus Christ. I always try to learn from my mistakes so that I can replace my weaknesses with strengths. The best way for me to feel God's love or to feel lifted when I am down is to do something nice for someone else. When we serve others, we get a glimpse of the unconditional goodness and kindness of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
