Hi I'm Katherine

I live in Utah and I love the outdoors. One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my family in the outdoors.

About Me

I'm a mother of five children; four boys, one girl. My husband and I have been married for almost 29 years and are almost empty nesters. I graduated from college with a bachelors degree in Recreation Management and love the outdoors. I enjoy spending time with my family skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, and backpacking. Last year I hiked King's Peak (the tallest mountain in Utah, yeah). In my other spare time I love to read, play the piano, quilt, play racquetball, and put puzzles together. I was active in PTA while my children were in school. I'm currently a climbing merit badge counselor for the BSA. We own our own business where my husband works. I recently returned to the workforce after being a mom for many years. On a Sunday evening you'll probably find me curled up watching Masterpiece Classics put out by PBS. When I was a young girl we lived in New Zealand where my father taught school for four years. My husband and I have lived in Oregon, Washington, California, and Utah. I spent a couple of summers in college working in Wyoming for the Grand Teton Lodge Company.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in an active Mormon family. When I was a teenager I read the Book of Mormon for myself and received a testimony that it was true. I have raised my family also in the LDS church because I know the teachings are true and help us strengthen our families by bringing us closer to Jesus Christ. I believe that marriage and families are important and eternal. We are taught to be honest, charitable, and hard-working. I know that our existence here on earth has a purpose and that we are loved by a Heavenly Father who cares about us. I know we lived with our Heavenly Father before we came to earth and that someday we will have the opportunity to live with him again with our families. This knowledge gives me direction in all areas of my life and helps me make it through the rough times.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is a part of who I am. Our 13th article of Faith states "We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things. " In a nutshell that is what I try and do in some way every day. I put my talents to use by making and donating quilts to various humanitarian agencies along with other women in our women's group. In my ward I am a CUB Scout Den Leader and visiting teacher. Every day I try to be happy and enjoy life and work and the many blessings I have. I know that we are all Heavenly Father's children and I try to treat others the way He would treat them since He loves us all. Being willing to help and serve others is a big part of my life whether it's taking a meal in to a family in need, or helping a neighbor with yardwork or loading their moving van. Trying to be a good spouse and mother is a big way I live my faith because I believe that families can be together forever. If I can influence my children to grow up and be good people in their homes and communities I will be happy.
