Hi I'm Maren

I grew up in California. I love my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a true California girl. I love the warm weather and I enjoy having some of the greatest wonders of the outdoors in my homestate: mountains, beaches, and great agriculture. I come from a family of five kids. I graduated from Brigham Young University in Early Childhood Education. On my free time, I enjoy playing sports. I run a few times a week and have done several 5Ks. I have started a kickboxing class and I love how it challenges me and pushes me to improve my physical health. Hiking is also a favorite activity of mine. My most memorable hikes have been Half Dome and Mount Nebo. I took several years of piano lessons and have recently started playing on a regular basis again. I love to cook and to experiment with different dishes. I've been making a ton of Italian food lately. I have the most encouraging and supportive family and I am so proud of where I came from.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the ultimate happiness it brings me. I grew up in a good home with good parents who taught me righteous principles and values. My parents have always been strong in this faith, but I wanted to know for myself. Through my own questioning, study, and prayer, I have come to know the truth of this gospel. I cannot deny and I will never deny the spiritual confimation I received. I know that Jospeh Smith was a prophet and restored this Gospel. I know that the living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, reveals truth from our Father in Heaven. I also know that there were many prophets that preceded Thomas S. Monson that testified of truth as well. I know that Jesus Christ lived and died for me. He also died for everyone else that has and will come to this earth, so that we might live again. I know that Jesus is the son of our living Father in heaven. I know that the Book of Mormon is a true record along with the Bible. Life has many unknowns, but I am comforted in knowing my purpose in being here on this earth. God loves me and I have felt His love for me. He knows my heart and He is mindful of what is important to me. He loves all His other children as well. He will always be there to help us. All we need to do is ask.

How I live my faith

I practice my religion by trying to follow the Savior's example. I stay consistent in my beliefs no matter what the situation is. If it is not uplifting or is destructive in any way, I won't do it. I enjoy helping others when there is an opportunity to do so. Through my church, I have learned about many ways to help others on a local and global scale. I have participated in projects such as clean ups, food collection for the needy, collection of necessities to send to people struck by natural disasters all over the world, etc. I am currently serving in our women's church group as second counselor. I have recently been asked to do so, and I look forward to serving the women at my church. I also visit a few ladies from my church every month with a message from the church leaders. I make sure that they are doing okay and check to see if they need anything. Everyone in this world is fighting a hard battle. I hope to make others feel uplifted just as Christ did in His ministry on this earth.
