Hi I'm Rachel Hansen

I'm short, I'm funny, I love soccer, I play the violin, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest out of 4 girls in my family. I'm a high school student (10th grade), and I want to be an engineer when I grow up. I plan on attending BYU, and I work hard to keep my 4.0 GPA. I'm in my school's orchestra, and I enjoy playing the violin. Not only that, but, I play soccer as well and have been playing it for 11 years! During soccer season, I spend my Saturdays reffing soccer games with my dad, and watching two out of my three little sisters play.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know for myself that it is true. I've been LDS for all my life, and I enjoy the peace the gospel gives me. I have so much knowledge and without this beacon in my life, I think I would be lost. The gospel teaches me the way I should live my life, and I am grateful for that. This church brings me so much happiness.

How I live my faith

As a youth, it can be hard to live the standards our church teaches in high school. I'm constantly bombarded with foul language, drugs, immodesty, drinking, immorality, and other things that I know I shouldn't participate in. Living in the south, it can be especially hard because not many others in my high school share my beliefs. It's important for me to stay strong and to not give into those temptations that can pull me away from the gospel. One of the things the church provides that gives me strength is seminary. This is a church bible class I go to every morning before school. My alarm clock goes off promptly at 4:30. Although it can be extremely difficult to get up sometimes, this gives me what I need to get through high school. I'm grateful for the gospel and all that it does to protect me.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Rachel Hansen
The Word of Wisdom is something the church teaches us to follow to keep our bodies healthy. In the scriptures, it teaches that our bodies are like temples and we need to keep them clean and pure. Therefore, we do not drink coffee, tea, alcoholic drinks, or any other drink that can be harmful to us. We do not do drugs or smoke, and we are encouraged to exercise daily to keep our bodies in shape. In return, we are promised to live healthy lives and other blessings. Show more Show less
