Hi I'm Elaine Shandra

I grew up in upstate New York. I'm a daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and teacher. I'm a wanderer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a smallish town in upstate New York. I love my family and friends. I love to read. I love art. I can do math. I'm a teacher. I love to wander. I daydream. I like sewing and design some of my clothes. I have a pottery wheel in my kitchen. I live for challenges (although sometimes I wonder why...).

Why I am a Mormon

Although I had read the Book of Mormon several times by the time I reached my early 30s and believed it to be the word of God, it wasn't until I decided to read the Book of Mormon just for me that I fully felt the Spirit bear witness of its truthfulness. It was such an amazing experience to know that the Book of Mormon is true! Through prayer, I've continued to develop my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Prayer is truly the lifeline between heavenly Father and us. I know that everyone can pray to our Father in Heaven to receive answers to their prayers. We are all His children and He loves us all. Just as in biblical times, God has sent prophets to guide His church, He continues to do so today. Joseph Smith Jr. restored the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Thomas S. Monson is the prophet today and Jesus Christ is at the head of the church. I know that as we listen and follow the prophets, we are continually blessed in our earthly progression to return and live with heavenly Father and Jesus Christ again.

How I live my faith

I love my family and would do practically anything for them! Little by little, I have striven to gain a formal and informal education. I have found that through prayer and reading the scriptures both morning and night, I am given additional guidance as I search for knowledge and understanding. Living in Utah, I am blessed to live near several temples within a short distance from my home and make an effort to visit them. Visiting and serving in the temple brings me peace and further understanding. I do my best to live up to the covenants and commitments I have agreed to and strive to be a good example to those around me.
