Hi I'm marcus

I'm a home grown Idaho potato. i love the outdoors and being active. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Idaho. I am 20 years old.I am the youngest of five children, two biological and two step siblings. I love the outdoors and the smell of a fresh breeze. I like snowboarding, hikeing, rock climbing, downhill mountain biking, snow shoeing, and am addicted to swimming. I enjoy doing mixed martial arts. But above all of that i love being with my family. The belief that I can be with my family forever and my future family forever has always been my greatest motivator. When i was about four years old my father died and my mother raised three children until I was about 10 when she remarried. I was raised in the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints and very thankful for that. Without that foundation i am not sure how our family would have gotten by. I am currently serving a full time mission for the church in long beach California.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in God. I love the outdoors and have realized that the organization could never be by chance. For example when I was little I was always catching ants and putting them in jars. One day I reflected on this and discovered that those ants had much in common with us. They worked all day organizing their existence much like we do. Some not really even sure why. From my point of view it would have been silly for an ant to think that what they were doing was all that there was in the world. I believe that God is much the same way, he has a bigger perspective and and understanding then us. Much like i did in comparison to the ants. I believe that he is an organized being that loves us. Because of this he must have an organization on the earth to instruct us in how to qualify for his blessings, this organization is the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. I know that he is a good parent who wants to give us those blessings. He acts in a similar manner as good parents do now. For example if you tell your child that you will be making a trip to the store, and if they clean their room they will be able to get a treat. If that child does not clean their room before you go to the store, in order to teach them that life principal, they will not get the treat. On the other hand if they did clean their room they would get the treat. Without the power of the parent the child would not be able the receive the treat whether they cleaned their room or not. God has set up a similar plan. He asks us to "clean our room" or live by certain standards and accomplish certain ordinances. I am a Mormon because the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints holds the authority to teach us these standards and perform the ordinances that we must do. So that when the time comes for God to give us eternal life I will be ready and worthy for it.

How I live my faith

I am currently a volunteer full-time missionary in Long Beach California. I believe in being active in the gospel not only active in the church. I do this through scripture study and then applying the principals into my life. I then pray and look for opportunities to exercise the things i have learned.
