Hi I'm Lorne

I became a member of the Church in December 2011. It was a year full of changes, all for the better.

About Me

I have been a carpenter for over 30 years. After helping my new wife study to become a Nurse I went back to school and graduated as a Health Care Assistant. We both now work in the same facility providing care for our seniors. I needed a change, I got one, and it suits my personality and character . I have a sailboat in dry dock (on a trailer in our driveway) and am hoping to get more time to "practice" the art of sailing when time permits. I was baptised in Dec 2011 after wandering in the wilderness for many years.

Why I am a Mormon

My older sister has been a member for over 40 years ,since she was 18 years old. Over the years ,and from a distance,I saw her raise a wonderful family, I realize now more than ever the many blessings she has recieved by being a devoted member and follower. In those 40 years of wandering ,I "played" with different religions a little . Never devoting myself to any One of them. I found religion to be too confusing. I asked my self repeatedly " if all of the different denominations studied from the Holy Bible then why were they at such odds with each other?" Their structure, and lack of it, was my strength to not commit to any one of them. My new wife was an inactive member of the church and she knew the way. She persistantly and suttly brought up the subject and one day expressed her desire to seek out the church again. I felt her need to become active again not realizing fully what that meant for me. One day, while I was at work, a couple of young men dressed in suits were in the neighborhood. My wife called to them and invited them for a talk. She soon had a meeting with the local Branch President and the very next sunday I was sporting a suit and tie. I must admit that I felt a little rushed but I love my wife and in the short time I have known her I have seen the blessings she has recieved in her life. They were very reminicent of the blessings my sister had recieved. After reading the history of Joseph Smith I knew where all the other churches had fallen short. It is my opinion that they are stuck in the past.

How I live my faith

I have been confirmed as a Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood and perform my duties in the Sacrement Service as often as I can. My wife and I support the Missionaries every way we can by going to other peoples homes when asked and inviting them to our home to share a meal when their busy schedules allow. My wife and I have accepted a calling in charge of the Young Single Adults in our branch and are looking forward to the chalenges that lie ahead in that indeavor and also to the lessons that will be taught and learned. I feel like a big spunge ready to absorb. We have also recently started investigating our ancestory and that is awe inspiring at times. In a very short time time my wife was able to trace her lineage back to 1044 AD.
