Hi I'm Nate Barlow

I have lived in South Carolina for 12 years. I enjoy playing guitar and playing basketball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, preparing at the MTC to serve a mission in Ribeirao Preto, Brazil. I loved playing guitar before my mission and I've been playing for about 2 years. Now, I will learn how to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ for two years. I like playing basketball, soccer, volleyball, working out, and running. I ran cross country for six years and I wrestled for three years in high school. I've also played soccer before on rec teams and in high school. I love reading novels and writing short stories and poems. I've always wanted to serve a mission for my church and now because of the great examples of my four older brothers, I've been given that opportunity! I love the scriptures and the spirit they give me, and I know as we read them and learn of the Gospel of Jesus Christ we can become happy!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church and am so thankful for that opportunity. My dad's family are members dating back to the beginning of the church, but my mom's parents converted to the gospel shortly after their marriage. When I was baptized, I remember feeling the Holy Ghost for the first time! I felt warmth, peace, and I felt loved. When I was around the age of 8, I read the Book of Mormon and I prayed to know if it was true. I remember feeling the Holy Ghost as I read through those pages. I love the scriptures because they can help you in any aspect of your life. I also know that our prayers are heard and if we pray sincerely in faith, they will be answered. I have continued to strengthen my testimony in this Gospel by exercising my faith in Christ by believing in Him and His ability to help us in all things. I know that this church is true. I know that you can to if you read the Book of Mormon and abide by the teachings of Christ found in it and in the Bible.

How I live my faith

I am preparing in the Missionary Training Center to serve a two-year mission in Ribeirao Preto, Brazil. I worked full time for the last year to save up money to pay for this mission. I love this Gospel. I know that it is true, and I know it because the Holy Ghost has testified to me that Jesus Christ has forgiven me of my sins. I also know that the Book of Mormon is true and I read it daily and have read it all the way through ten times. However, the reason I know it is true is not because I have read it 10 times. It is because as I read it, I know in my heart and in my mind that it is true. It testifies of Christ, and I believe in Christ. As I fulfill my my purpose as a missionary Inviting people to Come unto Christ through faith in Jesus Christ and his Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end, I feel peace and the Love of God.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Nate Barlow
Yes!!! A big misconception about our church is that the Book of Mormon is our version of the Bible. Let me clarify; The Book of Mormon is not our version of the Bible! We read and study the original King James Version of the Bible hand in hand with the teachings of our church. We love and respect the the apostles and Jesus Christ and his early ministry on earth!
