Hi I'm Shun Sambongi

I grew up in the US. I'm Japanese. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am just a normal college student. I love music. I like listening to it, but I like making it even more. I play the piano, guitar, string bass, and any instrument I can get my hands on. Other than music, I spend my time drawing and hiking. I also love to travel. I hope I can travel all around the world someday. I come from a family of five plus a dog. I hope to be an orthodontist someday.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family where my parents were already members of the church. And so ever since I was little, I always went to church. But that doesn't mean I always liked it. I actually don't remember ever enjoying going to church as a child. I always tried to find ways to not go. But I kept going because I felt like my parents made me go. When I was in high school, I had a lot on my mind. I saw some people that I really cared about fall away form the church. I knew that I also had to make that decision someday. One night, I was especially worried about my problems. As I lied in bed, I was prompted to pray and ask for help. As I did so, I just had this strong feeling that I wanted to become a better person. Thoughts came into my mind of what I should do. As I followed those thoughts and began doing the things that were in harmony with the teachings of the church, I realized that I was so much more happier. My life was so much better. I later realized that Heavenly Father had answered my prayer. That's when I truly decided that I was going to stay a Mormon forever.

How I live my faith

Right now, I am serving as a church volunteer for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I took a 2 year break from college so I could share the gospel of Jesus Christ and the joy it brings with people who don't know it. Everyday, I get to spend all of my time and efforts to sharing this message. I get to meet so many people, teach them, and then see the joy that they can receive through living the gospel. I also volunteer by teaching a free English class to anyone who wants to learn. I just love being able to serve my neighbors.
