Hi I'm Cody R. Harper

JOKES ARE AWESOME.......I am a Mormon

About Me

I love to listen to music. The kind of music I like to listen to is anything fast paced and screams at you…One band is Avenged Sevenfold. My hobbies include FPS video games such as Call of Duty Black Ops, Combat Arms, and Killing Floor. I am known in Combat Arms as Eatalotadead. I am well known for helping nubs in extreme cabin. I collect firearms (my favorites are my beautiful R870 and my beaten down and well used 303 British) and knives. I can fluently write and read English backwards (I can't give an example). Now I am planning on going home and going to school to be a…I don’t know yet. I'm not a sport person but with the right wording and enough begging I will play Basketball, Football, and ultimate Frisbee. Sense I do have ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) I enjoy being outdoors. I enjoy making cakes, well done hamburgers, milkshakes, and rarest of the rare red meat. I love to talk to people and I also like to be alone. To top it all off if I can have any super power it would the ability to multiply myself up to 100x. I have a wonderful quote I can’t remember who made it probably me but I will put anonymous “Quitters always quit because they never try”- anonymous. I love that quote because I apply it to my life every day.

Why I am a Mormon

Well first I was born and was tried to be raised as one. things kind of worked out as planned but I didn't really get my own testimony until I was about 18. that is when I really started to want to know for my own if what I was raised with is true. So I asked and it was true. Here is something that I once thought about. Are you willing to die for your religion? I AM. The reason I am willing to die for my religion is because it isn’t just a religion it is a way of life. Here is my next question. Are you willing to let someone else die in your place cause of your religion? Yes, I will have to let them die. This religion has taught me about something called the plan of salvation. I know that I will be with them again.

How I live my faith

The way I live my faith is through my actions, my words, and by example. I served a mission in Pennsylvania. I love it and there are some times I don't love it as much. I made a promise that i will serve the lord with all my heart, might, mind, and strength. I am currently doing so.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Cody R. Harper
That is 100% not true. I say that because the church donates cash to help with people that are in need. I also say that because I look for the opportunities to serve others. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Cody R. Harper
I firmly believe that the bible is the word of god (as long as it is translated correctly). I also believe that The Book of Mormon is also the word of god. The Book of Mormon is dealing with the inhabitants of the Americas and the Bible is dealing with the eastern continent. The bible has the teachings of Christ. The Book of Mormon also has the teachings of Christ. In the bible the book of James chapter 1 verse 5 it says "If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of god to giveth all men liberally and upbraidth not and it shall be given you." that means ask god if you have a question he will answer it. The Book of Mormon has a similar one. In the last book of The Book of Mormon, there is a man named Moroni. It is in Moroni chapter 10 verses 3-5 and it says " 3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts. 4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with dreal intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. 5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." The 2 verses support both. Show more Show less

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Cody R. Harper
So the person that chooses the prophet is God. Just like how God called other prophets God still calls them today. Some of you are thinking that is a load of hogwash. That ended with the Apostles. If you say that then you are denying the power of God. Because why would God love the people back then rather than now? God is no respecter of persons. I know that He loves every single one of us. I also know that He calls prophets in these latter days. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Cody R. Harper
The word of wisdom is something that people regard as dogma (church made law). The word of wisdom for me is more than just alcohol, coffee, tea, Illegal drugs, and tobacco. For me personally it includes sugar. For many reasons why one reason is because I have something called ADHD. When I partake of sugar then I am not a pleasant person to be around. Another reason why is because who wants to partake of something that will bring you and/or others harm? I don’t so I do my best to follow what the Lord as set for me as the word of wisdom. This is also not just a don’t list it is also a do list. Like get plenty of rest and the right nutrition for your body. Exercise daily and keep yourself free from substances that will prevent you from letting God speak to you through the Holy Ghost. I know that He does bless us for it and I have been blessed to know that with the diligence that I show Heavenly Father. He is there and He does bless those that are willing to follow something as little as not smoking or drinking tea. Show more Show less

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

Cody R. Harper
No. That was ended in 1890; God told the leaders of the church to cease the practice. So back to the first of it No we don't. If anyone is caught practicing it will be excommunicated from the church, easier said. They get kicked out. Just to be funny when people ask me how many wives are you planning on having? I reply with one. Reason being I have a hard enough time controlling myself why would I have more than one wife if I can barely do that? They don’t think it is funny but I get a lot of Okays. So just to be clear we don’t practice it at all. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Cody R. Harper
Well there is only one way to know if it is true. I will quote some bible scriptures to help with this. In James 1:5 says "If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God to giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not it shall be given him" meaning if you don't know something ask God He isn't going to be mad at you for it. He wants to hear your prayers and He wants to answer them. In John 11:22 says "But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee." I have done this. I have taken the time to ask God and He has responded that what you are doing is what I want you to do. I know that God does answer prayers and that He loves you to the very end. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Cody R. Harper
No they are not required. They are encouraged. If a church member would like to serve a mission all they have to do is ask God if that is something that they need to do. I took the time to ask God if a mission was something that I needed to do. The answer that I received was yes you need to go. I filled out the paperwork and now I am in Pennsylvania. I know that a mission has been a learning experience that I will never regret. I also know that it has set some patterns in my life that I will hold close and cherish. I also know that God is pleased with what I am doing:) Show more Show less

What is faith?

Cody R. Harper
Faith well let’s talk about faith. Faith to me is not just a mere wanting to believe. Faith to me is something that is hoped for but isn't seen. Here is an example of faith. Say you were driving the dark. You don't know when/if the road is going to stop. I know that through faith in Jesus Christ all men can be healed not just from sins but also from the pains and sicknesses caused by this mortal life. I also know that I am able to use The Book of Mormon, The Holy Bible, and all the others scriptures to bring me closer to Christ. Show more Show less

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Cody R. Harper
Tithing is used for many purposes. One use of the tithing used to furnish buildings and keep them maintained. The best part about paying tithing is that I know where it is going. I give the envelope to the bishop and he takes it and makes a record of what I paid. Then he sends it to the church headquarters where it is divided up to what it is needed to be used for. The best part about this church is that no one is paid for what they do. For instance I am not getting paid to be a missionary or the prophet he isn't gettin paid to be the prophet. What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Cody R. Harper
There are many things that tell me that there is a God. I will name three of them. Number one, I have learned it from the scriptures. The second one is from praying. There have been many instances that I have had to pray. If I didn't pray I would have been alone and nothing would have prevented mistakes that were would have taken place. Number three, I believe that we are here for a purpose and we are not here from just chance. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Cody R. Harper
We don't have a paid clergy due to the fact that we try to stay as local as possible. There is someone that is called to be a bishop or a branch president (that would be the pastor). They have their own job to support themselves. The people that would give the talk or the sermon are picked from the congregation. In The Book of Mormon there is a king that didn’t ask to be paid for his service he said this “I say unto you that as I have been suffered to spend my days in your service, even up to this time, and have not sought gold nor silver nor any manner of riches of you.” That is the same way we are today. We give our time serving one another. We do not expect to get anything from it. As a missionary we are asked to give all of our time and attention to serving the lord. I am doing this out of my own will. I am not expecting to get paid for it. The only thing that I am expecting to get out of the mission is to be a better person. I also know that this is the true church and that if there was a paid clergy we wouldn’t be where we are today. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Cody R. Harper
Being a Mormon is awesome due to the fact that I am happy. Nothing has made a bigger difference than the Restored gospel, The Book of Mormon, and the commandments from our Heavenly Father. I am able to stand strong when the advisory sends his fiery darts. I am able to not fall into temptation and be able to keep my head held high. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Cody R. Harper
The Mormon lifestyle is sometimes rough to live, but I know that if it wasn't hard it wouldn't be of God. Mormons live a very unique lifestyle. We don't smoke, we don't drink, we take care of our bodies, and we are happy. Now who doesn't want that? I know I want it so i live it. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Cody R. Harper
Well there are multiple reasons we promote a proper diet. The first reason is we try to come closer to God and when we are controlled by those substances we are less likely to listen to his promptings. I also know that there are some things that require some address. there has been a lot of studies that say coffee is good and some studies that say coffee is bad. I am going to testify will all my heart, might, mind, and soul that coffee has some destructive powers. Coffee has an acid in it that is used for mulch. If taken into your body can eat your stomach liner making it harder to digest food and bring large amounts of pain. I know that there is a law of health set forth by God to keep us safe. How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Cody R. Harper
They are related because well if someone doesn’t dress modestly then thoughts will arise and then they won’t keep the law of chastity. The parents can help by teaching them that nobody wants to see them dressed immodestly it is hard for people to talk to each other if they aren't fully dressed. They can help with the language by telling them if they have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all. The last part is about the behavior and behavior is a reflection of their desires and if they aren’t in harmony of good wholesome things then they need some help with some areas. Show more Show less

How do I become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church)?

Cody R. Harper
If you want to become a member find a set of missionaries. Let those missionaries know that you are interested in becoming a member. They will give you the basics; you take what they give you and study it out. Then over time you will become a member of the church of the restored gospel. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Cody R. Harper
Missionaries love what they know so they want to share it. I love the gospel that is in this church. I love it so much that I want to share it. When missionaries come to your door they aren't trying to force something on you all they want to do is share something that they really love. I know sometimes they sound like they are crazy but I know what they share is true. If you don't believe me ask God it is the only way you can find out if it is true. Show more Show less

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Cody R. Harper
Well when I dress for church I won't wear dirty clothes for one. I would normally wear a suit and tie. The holidays that I normally celebrate are the ones that I would see on a calendar. To make it simple I would celebrate the same holidays as most Christians. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Cody R. Harper
The purpose of life is to prepare to meet God. As we go through our trials and our tests we are given the opportunity to learn and grow. As we learn and grow from our trials we are turning into what we are supposed to become. I know life isn't easy it is full of sorrow, pain, disappointment. Did you also know that life can be full of joy, peace, and success? It can be full of both. So why not make sure the disappointment, pain, and sorrow is the ones that are not mentioned first? Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Cody R. Harper
Some people don't like change and they try to tear down something new. There are some people that don't like what I believe so they try to tear me down because I like the way I live. I promise that we don't do anything crazy. We just try to live as Jesus would live. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Cody R. Harper
The Book of Mormon is one of my best friends. It contains the fulness of the gospel. It also contains the power to make one happy. There isn't anything better than reading The Book of Mormon. It has helped me when I needed it the most. The book doesn't talk about a different Jesus it is the same one. Just someone else telling the story about Him. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Cody R. Harper
Joseph Smith is the prophet of the restoration. He is the one that brought to pass the Book of Mormon. Just like a man like Moses, Joseph smith is someone that has/was called by God and was able to perform marvelous things. I know that he is/was a prophet of God. Show more Show less
