Hi I'm Gwen Boucher

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to sail, hike, ride my bike, cook, and write Science Fiction.

Why I am a Mormon

All my life I searched for God in spite of the pain in my life. I wanted to know who created the beauty around me. I knew there must be a way out of the pain I felt. In my late 20's I first addressed who Jesus Christ is. The various churches I attended never felt true to me. Finally I gave up on the false expression of God, and Jesus Christ and in desperation became Muslim. In Islam I found modesty, meekness, and a sincere desire to be forgiven for the sins and mistakes I made every day. My experiences in Islam prepared me for my next encounter with Jesus Christ. One day, driving through Kirtland, Ohio, I encountered what I would find to be the first Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. On the road in front of the Temple, it felt as if the Holy Spirit commanded me to stop and investigate. It "felt" as if an angel stopped me right in front of the Temple. After looking Kirtland, Ohio up on my Android, I realized that I had to tour that temple, and in a series of strange events, I found myself at the Historical Center there, after several steps. I'd had a lot of rejection as a Muslim and was fearful of approaching anyone there; afraid of someone being unkind or being called a terrorist. In the next year of meeting first with the sister missionaries and later the elders, each point my fear was calmed, and I had a lot of healing. How gentle it was of Heavenly Father to first expose me to Sisters because as a Muslim woman, I did not speak to men. Heavenly Father has led me through so much healing, and given me the desire to live once again. My life is totally different now. Every day, when I waken, I wonder how it is that Heavenly Father had so much mercy on me.

How I live my faith

I am very new, having just been baptised on January 29th, 2012. Still, I am busy home teaching, and learning how to do Visiting Teaching Supervising. I volunteer in Church and in the community all I can, and as I learn, plan to do more. My Goal is to one day go out on Adult Missions. As an Evangelical, I'd been to Honduras for a total of 5 weeks doing reconstruction, to Kenya for 3 weeks as a short term missionary, and visited Israel for 10 days. I want to eventually continue that work.
