Hi I'm Dan Rogers

At 15 I moved from sunny California to windy Arizona. I survived the curtural shock and yes I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've alwayse enjoyed working with my hands. My father was a carpenter when I young and I guess his influence with construction was passed on to me. I didn't enjoy the experience at the time and si I graduated from college with a degree in Business Administration. But the influence of my youth kept pulling me back and now I too am a contractor and land developer. I have built everything from plywood caskets to 9 story apartment buildings and have developed residential subdivisions to 100 acre resort property. I married a lovely young lady and together we raised 7 wonderful children. I enjoy working with the youth and have been a Scout Master, a Varsity Coach and an Explorer leader. I enjoy camping and hiking. I have a pilot's license and enjoy flying to new places.

Why I am a Mormon

As a young man I was always sensitive to the importance of religion. I had many friends from different faiths and I always felt it was important to respect them and their beliefs. Though I was raised as a Mormon I always felt that I needed to know for myself if it was true. I decided to read through all of the bible both the old and new testiments. When I completed this reading I determined to read the Book of Mormon. During the reading of these books I prayed regularly that God would give me understanding and a witness of the truth. I also determined that I would try to live a more Christlike life. I felt that the year and a half that I spent reading would some how convince God that my intentions were worthy of His answer. I was dissappointed that at the completion of my reading an answer was not quickly forthcoming. I did feel an increased connection with heaven as I was reading but nothing that gave me the assurance that the church I belonged to was indeed His church. As I continued to pray and live the way a follower of Jesus Christ should, I began to notice feelings and impressions that were helping to guide my life. It was at this time that doubts were replaced by an unmistakable knowledge of the truthfulness of what I already had. Yes, Christ cares and loves all, even me.

How I live my faith

I consider it a blessing and previledge to serve my fellow man. I have had unlimited opportunities to help others. I seldom if ever have helped another without myself feeling the one who was most benefited. I have been involved with scouting for many years and still enjoy the opportunity to go on camping trips. Serving with the youth has brought me a lot of enjoyment. I particularly enjoy studying the gospel. Years ago while serving a mission I memorized many verses of scriptures. This has served me well in sharing the gospel with others. And on occasion when no one is around I have preached myself a pretty good sermon.
