Hi I'm Michael Jenkins

I have no hair. I am a vocal music teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to listen to music and to sing my heart out. I also love to go to dances and learn all sorts of new ways to dance and enjoy the company of others while doing it. I went to college to become a vocal music teacher and now I am on a mission in San Jose, California, bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people who need to hear it. Because I want to devote my attention fully to the Lord and His work in the mission field, I do not currently have a wife yet but I am still hopeful that one day after my mission I will get married and have children. I like to read a lot about different things but my favorite book to read is anything to do with the gospel. There is such a sweet Spirit in scriptures that can't be found anywhere else.

Why I am a Mormon

My testimony started with a question I had long ago. When I was an early teenager, I asked myself "why do we no longer have prophets like we did before Jesus Christ came?". I became complacent with not knowing for a season but i would always come back to that question eventually. I would soon start my own journey to find the truth without even knowing that I started on the journey. In college, I met a really nice professor at the school and started talking to him about things in general. He was by far one of the few very kind people I had ever met. I do not remember a time of him being angry or shouting at anyone. He was just a very forgiving man. He sent me a video on the Mormon Tabernacle Choir (school related) that I saved to watch later. Once I sat down to actually watch the video, I was hooked. I had to know more about them. Which lead to a lesson on Joseph Smith. I later met the missionaries who did not teach me a thing but told me to pray about whether the Church was true or not. As I prayed about that question, I was reminded of that question I asked myself earlier. That was when I knew this church was true. We have prophets to lead and guide us on this earth today. I was baptized May 7, 2011. Why I continue going to church and being active is because I know that its teachings will help be achieve my dream of hopefully being called home with those wonderful words "Well done my good and faithful servant."

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading as much about the gospel as I can. The church publishes a lot of cheep books that are great manuals in helping you study the gospel and explains it in such a way that really makes you think about what it is trying to teach you. It may also help you by showing you other places in the scripture that tries to teach you the same lesson. I love reading all about the gospel because it helps me become a better person and a person that Christ would be proud to call home one day. I also love the understanding I receive because it helps me be able to talk with others about my beliefs. There is no greater joy for me than to talk about His Gospel with someone to either help me grow in the gospel or to help them grow in it as well. Since Nov 14, 2012 I have been a missionary for the church and have been teaching Christ's word to all of God's children in the San Jose, California area. There is no greater joy in the world then being able to study His words and sharing what I have come to KNOW to be true with others. It matters not if they believe also but I just love the joining of people together to just understand what we each believe and learn from the source of that belief.
