Hi I'm Katie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was married when I was 21 years old, and a had a beautiful baby girl. Unfortunately my marriage did not last. I was divorced a year later but I have my amazing daugther so I have no regrets. I am now a single mom living in Southern California with my parents and younger sister. I love my family and I am so grateful for the support that they give me everyday.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when I was eight years old, because it's what you do when you grow up in a Mormon household. When I was eighteen I decided that the church was too restrictive and I didn't want to follow all the rules that my parents and the church had given me. I lived that way for about 8 or 9 years but as I watched my daughter growing up I realized that she was missing out on something important. She would go to church with my parents but she started questioning why she had to go if I didn't. At that point I realized that I wanted her to know the Gospel. Althought I had not been active in my faith I did still believe and I wanted my daughter to understand and learn the values that I had been taught. I love our Savior Jesus Christ, and I know that he is the Son of God. I know that the Gospel that Jesus taught while he was on earth has been restored and that we are blessed by following his teachings. My daughter will be getting baptized in a few months and I am so happy to see how much she has embraced the church and gained a testimony of her own.

How I live my faith

For the third year in a row I am teaching all the children in the ward that are 5 turning 6 this year. This is an amazing blessing to my life. I am relearning the basic gospel principles and I often think I get more from teaching than the children do from listening. I love to work with these kids and see how much they already know about the gospel and Jesus' life. My daughter and I also read the scriptures every night. This is something we started doing this year, and it has brought us closer together and closer the the Lord. She is so excited about this reading that we often read 3 or 4 chapters at a time.
