Hi I'm Kurtis

I'm a father, husband, Nurse, avid outdoorsman, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Nurse and I am working on pursuing my Nurse Practitioner. I love being out doors and Utah provides me the canvas to explore my outdoor passions. I am a father of two with one on the way. I have a loving wife that I am happy to be married for time and all eternity. I have lived in Utah my entire life. I have traveled to other countries and been over most of the United States. I love meeting new people and learning about other cultures. If there is a mountain bike trail nearby you will find me on it. I enjoy all that nature has to give. I try to spend as much of my spare time fishing, hiking, camping and hunting with my friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon most my life. I was baptized at 10 and had my moment of inactivity. I have sampled the worldly ways and the momentary moments of happiness, but never had felt the pure joy the Gospel has given me now. I was not always an active member and I have made my mistakes. I have humbled myself on many occasions and had to deal with my transgressions by speaking to the proper ecclesiastical authority, my bishop. I know the feeling of relief when my burdens have been lifted by my confession. I know that placing my burdens in the hand of my Heavenly Father and taking his yoke upon my shoulders is much easier to bear than my own. I know that Jesus Christ Lives. I know that the restored Gospel has been established through the prophet Joseph Smith. I know this because I have felt the love of my Heavenly Father help me when I was at my lowest when I thought my path was the right one. I know this because I have by faith, trusted in the Lord to show me the way in which he would like me to go. When I stopped trying to do it on my own. I found that I was not alone, instead that I was being carried by my Heavenly Father. When I felt and saw things in my life change for the better and people and experiences come my way that were miraculous to say the least. I gained my testimony in Jesus Christ and by following the teachings in the Book of Mormon, I can testify that the answers to life and why and who we are are found within those pages. I know that Joseph Smith could in no way translate the Book of Mormon unless it be by the power of God. If I had not read the Book of Mormon for myself and applied the teachings I may still be wandering through life bouncing around without clear guidance and understanding of my Heavenly Father. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my life with a smile and an understanding that I am part of a plan. I know that I matter. I know that I am trusted to help others with their experiences and to shoulder their burdens. I was only 29 when I was called as a High Priest. I now am trusted and called by Heavenly Father to serve in this capacity to help others. I have seen divorce and I have seen pain that this brings to families. I live in a ward family that is not immune from these tragedies. I know that my experience have prepared me to serve as an instrument in the Lords hands. I love attending church every Sunday. My life starts with prayer of gratitude and guidance and ends with prayer and forgiveness. I need the Atonement every day. Not because I am sinful but because I know I need the help to gain the knowledge and help to serve. I love that I can share my testimony with you, that I can stand as a witness of the power of the Atonement and the truthfulness of this Gospel.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Kurtis
I have come to know my Heavenly Father by sincere prayer. I have looked to Jesus Christ and his example and live my life by his example. I follow his plan of happiness which is found in the restored Gospel. I follow the counsel of the Prophets of old and now. Show more Show less
