Hi I'm Dwight

I'm a potato farmer and cattle rancher from Idaho. I'm married and have three boys. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've always enjoyed being outdoors; hunting, fishing, farming... I graduated from college with a degree in Agribusiness Management with a minor in Accounting. I and my family enjoy being active in our community. I serve on our local school board of trustees and the local library board. Both my wife and I sit on our county Farm Bureau board and enjoy competing in a variety of speech and debate oriented contests. I also pursue a new-found hobby of building log furniture in my spare time during the winter months.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. However, when I was old enough to help out on the farm part of my family felt that it was more important to work than attend church. Thus, for nearly all of my late childhood and through my teen years, church and all things associated were not necessarily a priority. At the age of 18 I decided I needed to serve a mission and began to take the step necessary to receive a call. As you might guess I faced considerable opposition from some members of my family to the point I truly believed I would not be welcome in my home when I returned. After much prayer and with the help of several wonderful friends I entered the mission field and served in the Taichung, Taiwan mission for two years. The mission provided a foundation for me and helped me see the person I wanted to become. Now that I have returned home, married, and begun a family, the gospel has become everything to me. To be able to pray and know that a loving father in heaven will hear and answer and to know that I can be guided and comforted by the spirit in everything I do. Ultimately, to have the opportunity to come closer to the Savior and feel his atonement working in my life. There is no greater joy than to feel the love He has for me and for all of his children and I want everyone to be able to feel that love and come to know him as I know him.

How I live my faith

I thoroughly enjoy serving in our church ward. Currently I serve in a leadership position with the middle-aged men in our congregation. I've also worked with youth in scouting and church-related activities which have been some of the most memorable and rewarding experiences of all my church service. Christ taught that we should love and serve one another and I truly believe that should be everyone's goal in life; to lift and strengthen others in the areas where we are strong and in turn be lifted and strengthened in areas that we are weak by those who can.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

I think I live a pretty normal life. There are a lot of misconceptions in the world about our faith and us a people but I feel like I am just like everyone else. I have a job, one wife, a family, I enjoy the outdoors, I believe in Christ, and feel like service is one of the best things we can do with our time. Show more Show less
