Hi I'm John

I'm Colombian, happily married to a wonderful woman and proud father of 2 great blessings that lighten my life every single day.

About Me

I have a passion for languages, learning and teaching. Ever since I can remember, I always played "school" with cousins and friends. I love what I do because I have the chance of touching lives forever. I not only get to teach but rather to inspire people to be better citizens, better people, people who care about themselves and others. I am a proud dad of 2 kids, married to a loving wife, who's taught me the true meaning of love. I'd like to end my days on Earth as a writer, sitting on a porch of a nice house facing the sea and writing my poems... I feel a special connection with words, and languages, and I am always eager to learn more about cultures and traditions that make people unique. I speak Spanish, French, English and a bit of Portuguese.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon because the restored gospel of Jesus Christ has given me the direction and light I was looking for even since I was a young man. I got in touch with the church through my fiancée who is now my wife. The impact the gospel had had in my wife's family life impacted me since the beginning. I was missing that happiness on Earth, the happiness that comes from the harmony, unity, love, devotion and tenderness that I could see in my wife's family. I tested the promises in the Book of Mormon and the Bible and asked the Lord about the church and the gospel. The Lord responded in a beautiful, and unforgettable feeling that made me burst in happiness and tears. I learned that day that our God lives, and that He answers our prayers, that He knows each and every one of us in such a deep and personal way. That overwhelming moment started a transformation that has lasted 8 years now and that makes me a very happy man. Ever since, I've served the Lord in various callings, serving the people of the Church and outside, I've experienced miracles and have felt the true love of Christ through service and charity. I have come to understand, that is by humbling ourselves to devoted service that God can make us tools to bless others and let them also know that He lives.

How I live my faith

I serve the Lord in my ward as a Sunday School teacher. Every lesson is a great oppportunity to reach out and let the brethren feel the spirit of the Lord in the Scriptures. I usually pray before teaching in order to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost with me and I can tell you it totally makes a difference. I teach married couples and also single people, and as we learn and share the principles in the lessons we grow together and strengthen our testimonies of the wonderful truths of the restored gospel. I also care about several families in my assignment as a home teacher. I am encouraged by the words of the Lord in the Scriptures to serve them and teach them in their homes about praying, about being united and about living righteous principles as a family that will make them move forward and steady in their own paths and trials. We visit each other in order to also strengthen our own faith, there is a feeling of peace inside when we do this, because we know we're helping the Lord in his mission of making every single brother and sister remember they're loved and cared for.
