Hi I'm Crystal

I'm a busy mother of five children two of which are twins. I write and illustrate children's books for fun and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I came from a simple lower middle class family in the United States. I was a shy teen involved in various sports and clubs. At age 14 a friend asked me to attend a church class with her called seminary from The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. This is where I first found faith in Jesus Christ. After high school I went to college earning a degree in Illustration. After college I decided I wanted to teach others about Christ. So, I paid my way to go on a mission to Salt Lake City Temple Square and Oakland California. This was during the time of 9/11. On my mission I meet and taught people from all over the world. We taught faith, hope, and peace to any who would listen. When I returned home I married a young man I had meet in the seminary class I had first attended. Now I am a mother of 5 children all under the age of 8(two being 18month old twins). I am married to the same wonderful man. It is a busy, crazy, fun life. We do the normal everyday things- School, car pools, play dates, parks, homework, family dinners, church, sports, exc. I enjoy the laughter and smiles of my children. I am thankful for the life that has unfolded to me because of a good friend who brought me to my Savior so many years ago.

Why I am a Mormon

I came to seminary class not too interested in god. I went so my friend would have someone to go with. She said, "Crystal, please come with me I don't have any friends there." For a half a year I listened quietly. We read the entire Book of Mormon, prayed, and spoke of Christ. Something was said that reached me. They spoke of families and how they can be forever. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we believe that family relationships continue even after this life. Before that time I had never considered family together after death. My love for my family was dear to me and I realized that my family did not have this. I went home thinking about it again and again. One night I prayed about it and feel asleep. That night I had a dream. I was alone in the dark. The room started to lighten and I saw Christ standing before me. I recognized him immediately and fell on my knees before him. A rush of memory came to me on how I loved and honored him, I cried. I could tell he could see me not just my face but all my thoughts and past actions. I saw how he saw me. His eye's penetrated me but I was not scared because in his eyes was a great love for me. I cannot put the power of his love in words, it was stronger than any normal man. I sobbed and told him how much I loved him and then I woke up. I am now 32 years old as I write this. It's been 18 years. I can still feel what I felt than. It will not leave me. Since that night I have seen many miracles in my life with him.

How I live my faith

How do I live my faith? My faith has altered me as person. Before I had the dream I write about in the next question. I had a temper and did whatever seemed to my best interest. But after what I had experienced my perception of the world was forever changed. I loved people and they did not have to be perfect. I learned to see the good in others and delight in it. I learned that Christ is very real and that I love him. I experienced the love of Christ and have tried to give it to others by loving like he does. To love others is an encompassing experience. It has made me a better friend, mother, and wife. Striving to be like Christ, is a lifelong endeavor. If something seems off in my life all I need to do is consider how Christ would react to the situation. Then I need to drop my pride and do what I know Christ would do.
