Hi I'm Ira

I am a wife, a BYU-Hawaii graduate, fashion addict, MFA student and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a graduate of BYU - Hawaii and will be pursuing my MFA starting Fall 2014. I am a wife and a fashion addict. I am a newly called Young Women Second Counselor and I am also a Faith in God activity leader.I live in San Francisco and I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

My mom was a member of the church since she was 14 & my dad became a member during his 20s. I grew up in the church & was baptized when I was 8 years old. Growing up in the church is a different kind of conversion, I can say. Throughout my childhood, I hear people around me testifying of the truths of the gospel. I went to church because my parents said so but without knowing what it really was for so in junior year of high school, & as part of the Personal Progress project, I read the Book of Mormon for the first time. I don't know why I have the habit of making things hard for myself because there are other "easier" projects but I chose this one & my life wouldn't ever be the same. This book has the power to change lives. How? I still don't know... but I know it did change mine. I started paying more attention to Sunday speakers & to the words of the living prophet & knew for a fact that this church is indeed true. There are a lot of steps to my own conversion. Like other people, I didn't believe the entirety of the church just yet. I knew the Book of Mormon is true. It is the keystone of our religion so there were a lot of truths affiliated with it. But, I needed to know if Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. I needed to know if Pres. Thomas S. Monson is the living prophet today. Like what Joseph Smith did, I asked with a sincere heart. I prayed to know if these things are true. I read about it. I searched about it. And my prayer was answered. I came in early one Sunday before sacrament started (which rarely happens!) & read in one of the programs a quote " The Lord will never allow the prophet(s), who speak on behalf of The Lord, will never lead church members astray. " I knew then that the Lord would not let Pres. Thomas S. Monson lead the church if he will lead us astray. The Lord being omniscient will surely know what is in Pres. Monson's heart. I came to a knowledge & testimony that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God & is the prophet of the restoration.

How I live my faith

I try my best to follow the teachings of the Savior by seeing the good in others by looking at them how He does. We are not perfect so most of the times, I fail, but I still strive to do it everyday. I talk to my Heavenly Father everyday through prayer and I strive to read the scriptures with my husband, Emil, everyday. I go to church and partake of the sacrament every Sunday and I can't tell you how important this part of my week is! I am so glad that we are commanded to keep the sabbath day holy because if not, imagine what will happen to our bodies if we keep working throughout the week! I know I wouldn't survive! I love this gospel and I am so grateful that it helps give direction to my life. With it, I know that I can be with my Heavenly Father in the eternities one day, with my family.
