Hi I'm Denise

I'm a Christian. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up the youngest of five kids and with a big age gap between me and my older siblings. Some of my best memories as a child are going fishing with my dad and jumping on the trampoline with him. My mom, a stay at home mother, taught me piano, and encouraged me to read by reading stories like Little House on the Prairie and Where the Red Fern Grows. I love the great outdoors and camping and white water rafting with my family. I love working in public schools and teaching. I served an 18 month mission in the beautiful country of Panama. I learned a new language, culture, and how to take cold showers every day!

Why I am a Mormon

Nothing brings me joy like the Gospel of Jesus Christ does. Life would have no point or purpose without it. I owe everything I am to Christ. He has given me the key to ultimate happiness in this life and beyond and I am so grateful to him for that. I love that families were created to be together forever and not just in this life. My family is everything to me and knowing I will have them forever, no matter what may separate us in this life, is the greatest comfort in the world. Nothing else makes sense. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and confirms and expands on what Christ taught in the New Testament of the Bible. I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet appointed to restore the gospel in its entirety as it was in the days of Christ. His testimony sealed with his blood cannot be ignored. The suffering of his wife, children, family, and friends would never have been endured for anything but the truth. He would never have allowed any of these things to happen for a lie. I know that I am a daughter of Heavenly Father, and that he loves me and I love him. I know that even though I do not make perfect choices, through Christ I can be perfected. There is no sin that is not covered by his atonement; no hurt, pain, sickness, or anguish of heart he has not felt for me. He did so much more than just die for my sins; he felt all the pain and heartache I have felt and will, and he did it to comfort me so I did not have to be alone. He is my most constant and loyal friend and he is real. He will love me unconditionally and be my cheerleader no matter how far I stray. He did all of this not only for me, but for all of humanity. No one on this earth is excluded from his gift. I know that he lives and this is my firm testimony which I bear in his name, even the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

My faith is centered in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To me faith is more than just believing in Christ, it is exemplified by my day to day living. When I treat others with respect, charity, and patience, I am able to live what I believe.
