Hi I'm Bernie

I love adventure, travel and laughing.

About Me

I am a mother of 3 boys and 3 girls. I am a grandmother of 4, soon to be 6+. I love traveling to faraway places and immersing myself in different cultures. I graduated from college decades ago and now that my children are getting married and starting families of their own, I decided to go back to school...this time to become an occupational therapy practitioner. I love learning and have found a future career that allows me to fulfill two dreams: Learning and Volunteerism. As a young girl my mother taught me how to serve and even though I didn't really enjoy it back then-I have come to love it! I have been very involved in volunteerism in Africa, Mexico and the USA. Some of my family's vacations were to places where we would volunteer just for the fun of it!

Why I am a Mormon

I have felt as a young girl that there is a "higher power" in my life. I have felt love and protection from God as my life progressed. There are too many coincidences to believe that the world just evolved: gravity on our planet, oxygen levels necessary to sustain life, and even the ph levels in our bodies that if they were one degree off we would die, the creation of a perfect fetus in utero and the miracle of birth, the list goes on and on. I know that the Priesthood authority is necessary and that the Book of Mormon is a second witness of Christ, I have prayed and had my prayers answered, I have had thoughts come to my mind when I was troubled, I know the necessity of having a living prophet in our day, I have felt the amazing joy of repentance and the love of a brother willing to die for us.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being involved!!! I have worked with youth the majority of my life. I started as a camp counselor for YMCA's summer camps and the Jewish Community's Summer Program. I worked with the Young Women of the LDS Church for the majority of my adult life and there is nowhere else I would rather be. I love it!! They are motivated to learn and do good. I am currently an adviser for our city's Youth Council and Service Council. I have been Co-President of our County Soccer League and coached all my children's soccer teams. I have organized parades, bike races, art shows and ran our yearly city celebrations.
