Hi I'm Maren

I grew up climbing on rocks and up mountains. I'm a scientist. I play the violin and I love sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a graduate student, just starting my PhD. I love everything about science and am studying genetics. I love to play tennis and ultimate frisbee. I love to watch and play sports. Hiking, rappelling, canyoneering, river rafting, and simply being outside makes me happy. I play the violin and love music. I know Jesus Christ is my personal Redeemer and Savior. The knowledge of a loving Heavenly Father and His plan makes everything in life so much more wonderful and beautiful. Life is awesome!!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know the doctrines of the Church are true. I know that Jesus Christ lives and that He atoned for my sins, heartaches, struggles, and for everyone else's who has lived and who will ever live. I know that I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father and that He loves me and knows me personally. I know that the Book of Mormon was translated by the power of God through His servant, Joseph Smith. Joseph was a prophet of God and the prophet of the restoration. The fulness of the gospel that was on earth when Christ was is restored again. Thomas S. Monson is the Lord's spokesperson and prophet today. I'm Mormon because I cannot imagine life without the blessings of the gospel. The blessing of eternal families, continued revelation, and the plan of happiness. I'm a Mormon because it gives me the faith I need to return to live with my Father in Heaven and be with my family forever.

How I live my faith

I think a lot of people see Mormons by the things the DON'T do. I don't think of those things on a daily basis. The way I live my faith, and follow Mormon teachings is by the things I DO everyday. I try and read the scriptures, pray, and invite the Holy Spirit into my life. I am in no way perfect, and am continually striving to be better and live as Christ would have me live. I know if I try my very best to be like Jesus Christ, the Lord will be pleased. Jesus Christ loves all of God's children with a perfect love. I try to feel His love for everyone and see the best in the world. We are all children of God, and deserve to be treated as such. To me, this is what it means to be a Mormon. I am not defined by the things I choose not to do, but by the actions I take to become more like my Savior, Jesus Christ.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Maren
One major thing that tells me there is a God is the beautiful Earth He has given us to live in. From the thousands of beautiful creatures to the gorgeous waterfalls, mountains, and trees, all of it is a gift from God. Another thing that testifies to me that there is a God is the incredibly intricate ways that He created life. As a scientist, learning more about science and the laws of the earth confirm the presence of God and the incredible intelligence He has to have created a world with such magnificent details.
