Hi I'm Sandi

I'm a social worker, mother of 4 grown children, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of 4 grown children who live in all different parts of the country as a result of marriage and/or their chosen professions. I have been a social worker for 30 years and love meeting people and hearing thier stories of life, both the trials and the triumphs. I am presently a licensed counselor working with the elderly, married couples, and individuals who seek my services for stuggles with the many changes life brings. I love to paint, draw, sing, and dance for creativity and mental well being. Also, I exercise regularly to stay healthy. This summer I spent 3 days camping wtih 16 girls from church. My profile picutre was taken during that 3 day camp out. I was 40 feet in the air walking across a foot wide log! Crazy but exhilerating! Even though I am older, I still feel young and enjoy being active and involved in life.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 30 years old, I met a woman who was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was a Methodist and attended church regularly. I met the missionaries one day while visiting my friend in her home. They asked me if I would like to find out more about the church. I heard a loud roaring in my head as I told them "No, thanks." They heard me say, "Yes." ! I didn't know then, but do now that the Holy Ghost had answered for me! I agreed to listen to their message. I was immediately captivated by the teachings and knew in my heart, through prayer and reading parts of the Book of Mormon, that the messages they taught were true. I was at a cross road in my life, I had been seeking direction from Heavenly Father and here was His answer. I knew He had guided me and I knew the gospel was from Him. That all took place 30 years ago and I have never questioned my choice. The blessings have been overwhelming.

How I live my faith

As a social worker, I am used to visting people in their home to assess their needs. As a member of the church, I am assigned to visit a number of women in their homes each month to check on their needs, and provide them with a spiritual message. This is one way I serve the Lord by watching over his lambs assigned to my care. Another assignement I have is to work with the girls ages 12 through 18. We teach spiritual lessons on Sunday, have mid-week activities, and other special events. The girls also have an achievement program they work on individualy that teaches them values, such as virtue, divine worth, choice and accountability, service, integrity, and more. There are many opportunities to serve in the church. For each position I have been called, I have grown closer to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
