Hi I'm Katherine Mackay

I love sharing this planet with so many wonderful people. The best job I have ever had is being a mommy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Having grown up all over the western United States and Mexico, I learned to love everyone and anyone and realize each life has an amazing story. Those experiences are the foundation of my ongoing interest in geneological research and a love of history and ethnic groups. My love of camping, hiking and dabbling in art has sparked the interest in identifying plants and geology. I love to create through sewing, and the occasional cooking class with my husband as well as have an insatiable appetite for reading. And yes, I even love hardware stores! My favorite sport is laughing. A sense of humor is the secret to surviving having five babies in three years (yes...that's not a typo, five in three, a single birth and two sets of twins) with the best guy ever whom I could spend these past 40 years, now enjoying twenty wonderful grandkids. I presently work in marketing for an industrial design firm. Travel to the British Isles and Europe and Istanbul proved to be the best addition to my education and fanning the flame to know more about my roots. But I am most excited to be planning the next Grandma Camp and looking forward to our next family crazy hat night!

Why I am a Mormon

Though I am a fourth generation Mormon on both sides of my family, I conciously choose to live this lifestyle and absorb its teachings because the truth has constantly permeated my soul and I feel profound peace and tranquility in my daily life when I make the effort to keep the commandments. As I have attended and worked in the holy temple I feel a great sense of security more than ever that we are children of a loving Heavenly Father who loves all of his children and wants to keep them spiritually safe that they may return to him and his son, our Lord, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I try to live what I believe by doing my best to have a knee-jerk reaction to serving others not only when opportunities present themselves but actually looking for the "see a need/ meet a need" moment. Most of my church callings have been teaching others of Jesus Christ. Trying to share the true principles and practices of the gospel that reflects the orginal church that the Saviour set up during his lifetime on earth, proves most satifying and has the most long reaching affect in the lives of those I have taught.
