Hi I'm Lori Brees

I was baptized into the church on Jan. 26, 1992.

About Me

I love to do needlepoint projects, read, and watch my favorite shows on TV. I have a nephew that just enlisted in the US Air Force, so VERY proud of him these days. I used to model, and was one of 350 NASCAR Trophy Queens back in the late 80's to early 90's. I travel all over the US for my job, I work for various pipeline jobs, and have a cat and a little Miniature Pinscher that travel with me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was lead to the church thru a boyfriend, who was born in to the church, that I had back in the late 80's. I investigated, fell in love, and was baptized into the church at the Simi Valley, California Ward. I had the BEST Visiting Teacher back then, and she and I are still in communication to this day. She means the world to me, and has helped me thru many things. I left the church for a few years, and became inactive. Partly due to my job, and partly due to checking out other churches. But I ultimately realized that this is the true church, and came back to it. I feel so much more at peace, and feel the spirit in my life as I grow with the LDS church. The first time I sat in a Sacrament meeting, I was sitting all alone and by myself, but kept looking over to my right.....I had the strongest feeling that someone was sitting right next to me. That's when I realized it was the Holy Ghost assuring me that this is where I belonged.

How I live my faith

I have not had a calling, as I am still so new to the church and because I travel for my job. Unfortunately, I am only in the area I'm transferred to for about 6-9 months on average and then I get moved on again. But I live my life as I think Jesus would want me to. I strive to always remember that one rule my parents forced us to obey, to "Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you". I help out in the communities that I'm in whenever I can, by helping at soup kitchens by serving food. Working in food pantries to bag up food that will be distributed that following Saturday. I made 100 sack lunches by myself one time, and distributed them to the homeless that were living under the bridges in Des Moines, Iowa on Easter weekend in 2009. Helping others gives me the greatest feeling ever, and I enjoy helping others as much as I can.
