Hi I'm Jacob Heslop

I have spent most of my childhood in Arizona, but I am now serving a mission in the Philippines.

About Me

In my family there are my dad, mom, myself (oldest), and five other siblings. I am a very musical person. I enjoy listening to music, playing the piano, and clarinet (or bass clarinet). While attending school I played the clarinet during three years of marching band, and the bass clarinet for concert band and in my school's full orchestra. My favorite songs are mostly country (all with clean language), accapella, or classical orchestra. I enjoy brain teasers, whether board games or pen on paper. Some games include variations of Clue, Rail Barron, along with Sudoku puzzles or crosswords. I am an avid photographer, and took a class to better my skills so that I can show more creativity in my photos. I have achieved the rank of Eagle in the Boy Scouts of America, and have worked two summers as a lifeguard for Scout Camp Raymond.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be baptised into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was eight, like many of the kids who had grown up in the church, that I would become a member of His church. From the time that I was baptized even till now that choice has become a stronger and stronger part of my life. I find myself in many experiences that would have been hard for me if I had not been taught the standards that I live because of the gospel. I am also grateful for the knowledge that comes from the scriptures. I strongly testify that I know that this church is true and can bless so many lives. I know that Jesus Christ lives today, and I know that he and Heavenly Father met with Joseph Smith and allowed him translated the plates written on by ancient prophets into what is known today as the Book of Mormon. I have read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover several times and I have had conformation that it is indeed another testament of Jesus Christ in these latter days.

How I live my faith

I try to follow the commandments given through prophets by the scriptures and by our prophet today. I serve others with youth who are in my age group in my church classes or in my Boy Scout of America troop. I enjoyed going to seminary at school. I try to spend my time doing things for others, like Jesus Christ would try to do. I try to share the gospel in many ways. One of the opportunities that I have gotten to share the gospel was through the 2012 Easter Pageant where I acted the part of a temple banner carrier as well as a part of the multitude that followed and believed in Jesus as he ministered. I have the opportunity this year to be a part of the 2014 Easter Pageant as a Herald Angel celebrating Christ's birth and that he still lives as well as a torch bearer that witnesses Jesus being taken by those who want to crucify him. I have also set apart two years in my life to go to the Philippines as a missionary to teach others what I have come to know for myself as I have lived Christ's gospel.
