Hi I'm Justin

I'm a passionate foodie with a love of literature. I'm an active outdoorsman, an aspiring linguist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My passion in life is food. The only thing I like more than eating a really good meal, is preparing a really good meal with/for really good friends, because gastronomy was always intended to be shared. I love music and language, language because I enjoy learning to communicate and connect with people, and music because it bridges the language barrier and says the same thing to everyone (just like food). In my opinion, life should be lived outside of walls and roofs. Rock-climbing, paintballing, hiking, horseback riding, rafting, camping, and anything else you can do outside fall squarely in my category of favorite things. Too many people forget to look around them, and don't notice the beauty of the world we live in. Don't get me wrong, I love people, and buildings, and technology, and indoor plumbing, I just like to take a step back sometimes and remember where I am. Earth. I'm the second child of a working-class family. Dad's an Electrician and Mom's a secretary. We never had much, but we always had enough, and we've always been happy because my parents taught us what's really important in life, like people. Relationships. Friends. Family. Things that you can hold on to no matter how much money you make or how long you've been out of work. Things that you can take with you wherever you go. You know, the good stuff. I don't have a lot of direction in life yet, but no one really does at my age. What I do have is faith in God, and that's always been enough to get through.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it's what the Lord wants for me, because I couldn't believe anything else, couldn't be anything else, without lying to myself about what I know. I'm a Mormon because I prayed, and I still pray, and ask my Father in Heaven what's true, what's good, what He wants for me, what I should do. I'm a Mormon because when I ask, He answers, and when He answers, I listen. Where He leads, I will always follow, because I know He will never lead me astray. Don't believe me? Grab a Book of Mormon, read it, pray, and see for yourself.

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving as a full-time missionary in Montréal Canada. That means I spend all of my time, 24/7 all day every day helping other people discover for themselves joy of Faith. As a missionary I talk to people about God. I teach people about Jesus Christ and what He did for us here on the earth, I help them find answers to questions they have by prayer and scripture study, basically I just try and spread joy. I try to help make peoples lives a little easier, a little happier, and a little closer to Christ. After my time in Montréal is over, I'll go back to living my Faith like I did before. In everything that I do. As a member of the Church I try to do the same things missionaries do, as often as I can. It's the little things, you know? Holding a door for an old lady, running somebody the wallet you watched fall out of their pocket, just having a smile. That's the thing about the Gospel, it's about being happy. Not about instant gratification, or temporary happiness, but real joy. Joy that lasts. Jesus always taught to be patient, to be kind, to be loving, to build people up, and that's how I strive to live my life everyday. My Dad always told me that there are things in this life that are out of our control, that we have to leave to God and we can't do anything about, but what we can always do is try and make someone else's day go better. I try to show my faith in everything I do. I'm not always that good at it, but that's my goal for sure.
