Hi I'm Josh

I am trying to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.

About Me

I am a father of a young girl and a husband of a wonderful woman. I enjoy the outdoors – particularly hiking and exploring new areas. I also enjoy learning foreign languages and enjoy speaking Russian and German when I get an opportunity to do so. It has taken me a while to decide on a career and have recently chosen to pursue international business. I hope to utilize my talents to better the world.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother had been raised a Mormon, but at the time I was born she was not actively attending church. My father was not a member of the church at the time and did not participate in any religion. After my birth my mom decided to go back to the Church and raise me knowing the gospel of Jesus Christ. She also introduced my father to the Church, and after some time he joined. When I turned eight years old I was baptized into the Church. I actively attended nearly every Sunday while I lived at home. When I was about 16 I seriously struggled with my faith, even doubting the existence of a God. I came to the conclusion that I needed to know for sure about God being real and decided to confront Him in prayer. Although I had never done this before, I decided to go to the woods to pray and had more or less predetermined the spot where I would pray. I wanted to be all alone with no distractions. I was determined to get an answer and believed that if God existed then he would give me an answer. After arriving at my spot I knelt down and with tears in my eyes began to pray. In the middle of my prayer I received an overwhelming sensation of peace and comfort and felt as if someone was hugging me. I even opened my eyes and looked around but saw no one. I knew that God was aware of my existence an that he cared for me as an individual. In moments of doubt I have often looked back to this experience for comfort and strength. I'm a a Mormon because I have come to know for myself that God is real and that I have a Savior who loves me. I love Christ's teachings and strive to make His teachings become a part of my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the kind of person I believe my Savior would want me to be. I particularly love to read about Christ's mortal ministry and try to emulate His example. I look over the Sunday school at my church and need to teach it regularly. I do my best to live an honest, virtuous and loving life no matter where I am – at home, school or work.
