Hi I'm Joel McKinney!

I live in Utah. I enjoy sports and photography. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am in my early 20's. I am the youngest of five, I have two brothers and two sisters. I was born in Mesa, Arizona, but I grew up in Clovis, California. I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah. Who would have thought, right?! If I can spend my time outside, I will. I love being in the forest, on the mountains, and in any nature beautifully crafted by God. Sports are a big hobby of mine and most if not all are enjoyable to me. The internal desire to capture a moment in time makes me by nature a photographer. My hopes are that I can help the world see the true beauty that is all around us.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I grew up learning about this. More importantly, I stayed a member of this Church because this truly is Christ's church. He established a church so that we could access his Atonement or sacrifice for us. I remain in this church so that through the ordinances that are available, I can apply his atonement and be cleansed of my sins. It is only through the proper authority that we can have done those saving ordinances, such as baptism. That authority that Jesus Christ himself had, was lost for many years. It has been restored and brought back to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I know that is the truth. Truth will never change, God's authority will always be exercised the same way. God has revealed this to me through his Holy Spirit. The sprit teaches us all things and testifies of truth. We can all know of these truths as we seek them out through scripture study, prayer, and attending church.

How I live my faith

The great thing about living this faith, is that I'm not perfect. Now, the reason why that is great is because it means I can become something more than I am. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a Gospel of change. I make many mistakes, even on a daily basis. I try, however, to do better and improve. I want to help people be happy and feel loved. Many in this world are lost and think that there is no such thing as true joy. Serving others and strengthening them helps me to follow the Savior's example. In all that I do I try to act as Jesus Christ would himself. It isn't always easy, but it's always worth it. Following His footsteps will bring greater peace and happiness not only to us, but to those who are around us.
