Hi I'm Josh Hammond

i love sports, i love laughing and cracking jokes, and i love being a mormon

About Me

well i grew up in a little place called Rexburg Idaho. i have loved playing sports ever since i was a little kid and i still continue to play whenever i get the chance. i also love to watch movies! there are 9 people in my family. 5 boys, 2 girls and then my parents. i am the second youngest soo i have a lot of older siblings to look up to and learn from. i love to laugh and to have a good time. I hate to be bored so i try to always be doing something. i am currently living in Okinawa, Japan and am loving every second of it. I try to be a good example to those around me and hope that i can reach out to them somehow.

Why I am a Mormon

i grew up in the church soo i was lucky in that way. i didnt really have a testimony for a long time and it bugged me to hear that people felt the spirit because i didnt believe it was real. I realized that i have never put Moroni's promise Moroni 10:4-5 to a real test. i have read the book of mormon and i have prayed but i did not do it to the best of my ability and really desiring to know. i might have desired to know a couple a days but i would shortly give up after not recieving an answer. i put the promise to the test and realized that it is true and anyone that does it can feel the spirit and gods love just as i have. Ever since that experience i have tried to read the book of mormon and pray everyday and even though i recieved my answer already i still ask and reconfirm all the time. I am mormon right now because i know the difference that it has put in my life. watching family members and friends struggle because they didnt believe or they wanted didnt want to follow the commandments that help us become happier. Watching the sadness that comes from doing those worldy things really helped me decide that doing them never brings happiness. i decided from a young age that i wanted to live the gospel because i knew that it would bring a whole lot more happiness to my life than if i didn't. I am a mormon right now because i love being happy and i love knowing that im on the right track. I also love helping people out and sharing the gospel with them. its to special of a gift not to give to everybody!

How I live my faith

well i live my faith by choosing to serve a mission. i knew that if i was going to tell people god exists then i had to know for myself and that required reading and praying. i started reading the book of mormon everyday for 1 hour before school because i didnt have a class scheduled for that hour. soon after doing that i found myself reading for that hour and then a few more after school. I soon started recognizing the feelings from the spirit and what were not from the spirit. Because i made the choice to read and to pray Heavenly Father showed me through the Holy Ghost that he really does exist and that this is the true church. Before my mission though i lived my faith by inviting others to read and to find out for themselves. i try to be a example to others by service. the scriptures teach us that charity is the pure love of christ and that is how we can become more like Jesus Christ.. 3 NE 22: 7,8,10 are my favorite scriptures of the book of mormon and they teach us that even though we mess up and fall of track our heavenly father and jesus christ love us. through those scriptures i learned that that the most important thing that we can do is just love others even though they mess up.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Josh Hammond
Family relationships can last forever—not just for this life. Just as some of life’s sweetest joys can come through family associations, the loss of a beloved family member can be a source of our deepest sorrows. Jesus Christ gave power to His disciples to seal families together forever when He said, “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:19). Death does not need to be the end of our relationships with cherished loved ones. The Lord revealed to Joseph Smith that the “same sociality which exists among us here will exist among us there [in eternity], only it will be coupled with eternal glory” (Doctrine and Covenants 130:2). Family members who accept the Atonement of Jesus Christ and follow His example can be together forever through sacred ordinances performed in God’s holy temples. These ordinances seal a husband and wife together for all eternity and children to their parents as an eternal family. Show more Show less

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Josh Hammond
Gordon B. Hinckley, prior President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said: “[People] see in this Church an anchor in a world of shifting values. The family is falling apart in America and across the world. We are putting strong emphasis on the family. It is appealing to people. They like it. They welcome it. They need help and we offer that help. “Furthermore, it gives purpose to life.... We answer the old questions of Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going? These great religious questions have been asked by men throughout the ages. We give them an assurance of who they are, sons and daughters of God. I am a child of God. We have a song that says that. We believe it. It is a fact with us. People find comfort. They find peace. They find strength in that. “And in the organization they find sociability. They find friends. We are a very friendly Church. We are a very happy Church. We are a happy, go ahead people, and others like it.” 1 of 1500 characters used Show more Show less
