Hi I'm Luke

I'm an outdoorsman, a gunsmith, a history nerd, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

What am I? I don't really think I am any one thing. I love most anything outdoors. Camping, mountain biking, backpacking, hunting, target shooting, climbing trees, if it's outside I'll do it. I challenge myself. For instances, I once camped outside on a crisp winter night under a shelter that I made out of a tarp and several branches. During the construction of the shelter, I found a large rock and placed it near the fire so it would warm up a provide a source of heat throughout the night. I slept the whole night through 'til morning when I awoke to about six inches of new fallen snow. The only thing that I could do was to smile and have fun and think of how awesome it is to be outdoors I find a lot of fulfillment in using my hands to create something. When I was sixteen I designed and built a pumpkin chuching trebuchet. In the past three years I have finished building a blackpowder rifle and pistol to comemorate the founding of my country. Those who know me know that if I am not in a workshop building or fixing something, then I am outside experiencing. Right now I am serving a two year mission for the Lord in Fresno California.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Chuch of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I have received a personal testimony that it is true. There have been times in my life where I have felt lost and confused, and it was only when I prayed to Heavenly Father and read the Book of Mormon that I was guided in my decisions.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by simply having faith in Jesus Christ and his Atonement. Faith is more than a passive belief, faith is what motivates us to do good. I have found in my life that as I focus on the Savior Jesus Christ I am more willing to help those around me and less inclined to be selfish. I think the greatest way that I live my faith is by loving God and loving my neighbor.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

It's kind of like how incase of a drop in oxygen while flying in a plane, a flight attendant says to secure your own mask before that of another so that you can more fully help someone later. By being prepared for an emergency we are ready to respond to any need for help. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Being Mormon is very simple and fulfilling: be yourself and live God's commandments. The way we find lasting internal joy in life is by following the example of Jesus Christ, and by being Mormon you do just that. Show more Show less
