Hi I'm Erik Knighton

I was born in Oregon, I'm serving a full-time Mission in Ukraine, and I'm an undefeated boxer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Hillsboro, Oregon and lived there for a few years before moving to Seattle, Washington where I lived for about 5 years. I moved back to Hillsboro when I was 8 years old and have lived there since. I love living in beautiful green Oregon! I love being with my family, and friends. That's probably what I love to do most. I love to be active all the time, and to try new things. I love rock climbing, cliff-diving, motorcycle-riding, mountain biking, hiking, scuba-diving, Baseball, and a lot more. On my fifteenth birthday I decided, sort of randomly, to take up Boxing. I was a Boxer for about three years, and (not bragging) I am undefeated. It helped teach me a lot of good things in my life like discipline, courage, self-respect, and so on. I gave up Boxing to work and earn money for my Mission, after High-school. I recieved a call to serve a full-time mission in Kiev Ukraine, where I have had to learn to speak Russian, and eat lots of mushrooms with a smile. I'm currently here in Odessa, Ukraine and I will be back in the good ol' U.S.A. August of 2014.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church by my parents. My Grandma on my moms side was the first member on that half of my family. She was soon followed by my Grandpa. Both have remained faithful, active members ever since. My Dad was raised in the church, and my Mom was introduced by her parents to the church while she was young. Despite being raised in the church, I feel like I've had to figure out my own testimony, in my own time. And I've found the Church to be true. It gives me such joy to be a part of this Church. I feel like something is seriously amiss when when I didn't go to church one week, or I forgot to read in the morning, and to me that says that there has got to be something good about this Church. I think for me, why I am a Mormon is simply because it just feels right. Everything about this religion makes the world a better place, we have focus on family values, we believe in being honest, we believe in being good citizens, in loving and serving one another, in remembering what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for us. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, brings forth only good things, and that to me means that it must be from our loving God, from whom all good things come from.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith by serving the Lord. In the Book of Mormon (Mosiah 2:17), we learn that one of the best ways to serve the Lord, is by serving His children. I try my best to do what our Savior asked us to do and love my neighbors by serving them. I know that it's a short way to describe it, but that is the first and second commandment we have, love our Father in Heaven, and to love one another.
