Hi I'm Rick Kindle

I'm a husband and father, and grandfather. I'm also in the Band Strength of Soul.. and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the piney woods of east Texas. Lived her most of my life. I met my wife at youth conference in 1977, we were married a few years later in 1979. We have four wonderful boys, three beautiful daughter in laws and 7 wonderful grandchildren. I own a small mfg company to provide a living for my family but, my greatest love, other than my family and The Church is music. We are musical family. When we all get together we play guitar and sing. I was in a country rock band for about 8 years in the 1990s. The band was comprised of members of The Church except for one guy. We had a blast. My oldest son joined the band in the late 90s. He took what he learned about continued to sing, play and write music. And now all my sons are involved in music in some fashion. My youngest is an awesome guitarist. He is in a band with girlfriend and they are getting very popular. And me, well now I'm involved in the Rock band Strength of Soul. We are a contemporary LDS rock band. Our music is all gospel themed. Other members include my oldest son Matt and my nephew Eric. We are having a great time doing all our original music..and it's good stuff!

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't born into The Church but my family joined when I was 7 years old. I was baptized at 8 and have been active ever since. I have never questioned if I should go to Church or not, it was just something I knew was right. However, I must admit that I really didn't gain my own testimony until after I was married, even though my wife and were married in the temple. One day my wife and I decided we were going to read the Book of Mormon and find out for ourselves. So we did. We both prayed about it and received an answer. Not only was The Book of Mormon true, The Church was also. I can't even imagine not being LDS. It makes me who I am, the decisions I make are a direct result of the knowledge and testimony I have of The Savior and HIs Church. The reason I am Mormon is because the doctrine and teaching are true. It's that simple.

How I live my faith

Some may say that living the gospel is not easy. And for some that may be true. But for me, I have always been active and always participated in church. I live my faith by trying to emulate The Savior Jesus Christ. I try to may good and righteous decisions. We pray as a family ever morning and evening, and also have personal prayers. This helps to keep your head straight on what's truly important in life. We also are very active in our Church callings. I've had the opportunity to serve as Bishop of our congregation for a little over 5 years. It was a challenging wonderful experience.
