Hi I'm Shauna

I grew up in Utah. I taught Elementary school for two years. I am married and have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the Salt Lake area and graduated from college in Elementary Education. I enjoyed teaching school for two years. I have been fortunate to be able to be a stay at home mom. I have studied vocal performance and piano also. I have recently been involved in Family Records Extraction for Genealogy purposes. I enjoy gardening, traveling, water aerobics, good movies, scrapbooking, photography, writing, classical and new age music, reading the scriptures and spending time with my, family, friends and especially my five grandchildren. I am learning digital scrapbooking, computer genealogy and writing histories. My husband is an attorney and we now own a beautiful Assisted Living facility. We have been married for 37 years and have four children, five grandchildren and two on the way. I feel that "today and everyday is a gift."

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have studied the scriptures and the Book of Mormon and have fasted and prayed about their truthfulness. The Holy Ghost has witnessed to every part of me and continues to witness to me in a powerful ways that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith, his chosen prophet. I cannot deny this testimony which often burns in my soul and brings me to tears. The more I study and pray the more gratitude and joy I feel for the truth of the gospel in my life and the more I want to share it with others who are searching for the truth. I am grateful for living prophets who guide the Saviors church on the earth today. I know that the Lord continues to guide and direct my life through personal revelation and has throughout the ages with his children. I know there is only one way to be happy and that is through Jesus Christ, his teachings and his sacrifice. He is our Savior and Redeemer. He is our advocate with our loving Heavenly Father. Only through Him can we have true peace and Joy in this life and in the eternities to come.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by serving my family and others. My responsibilities and activities in the church have helped me to learn many new things and to serve in meaningful, fun ways. I visit four sisters each month and help them when they are in need. They have become good friends to me. I have served in callings where I work with others and I feel that serving and getting to know those you serve with forms a special bond of friendship. I have enjoyed leading a church choir, teaching music and songs to young children in church meetings and attended many baptisms where the spirit of the Lord is always strong. I have also been in charge of the Young Women program in our area organizing activities, service and educational opportunities for about 40 girls ages 12-18. I have served on dinner committees, activities committees and taught gospel lessons in the world wide women's organizations of my church. Recently I have served for eight years in the Family Records Indexing Program training and supporting 200 Indexers in our area. Volunteers are involved in indexing records for free use on the internet at www.familysearch.org. Recently my husband and I serve together in a Young Single Adult Group where we support, teach and love the over 200 amazing Young Single Adults ages 18-30 in our area. I feel so blessed and happy to be able to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and to be a small part of the Saviors work on this earth at this time.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Shauna
The main role of the husband and the wife in the family is to join together in raising and loving their children and to support and love each other. Men and women can complement and support each other and their families through the different roles, talents and abilities they bring as individuals. Raising children and marriage relationships present challenging and awesome responsibilities. I know that If we have faith and trust in the Lord and help each other we can do our best. We can find peace and happiness through our trials and our successes. Show more Show less
