Hi I'm Cydney

I have an unquenchable thirst for life, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My goal in life is for everyone at my funeral to have a unique story about me. I don't mean to say I'm looking forward to my funeral, but rather that I want to live a life full of stories and adventures. I never want to stop experiencing all the amazing and exciting things this world has to offer! I love music of all kinds, and I play the viola (which is ten times cooler than the violin). I can't help but dance like crazy when I hear a beat, and I sing along to every song I know no matter where I am. When I'm not on campus or working at Michaels, I spend my downtime knitting and watching TV. If you want to be my friend forever, you need only buy me french fries. I love french fries.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that this church is THE church of Jesus Christ. Before I started investigating this church, I was confused by the things that I was told about Christianity. I would wonder why God would create so many people just to have them sent to a fiery abyss in the end. It seemed like every church said the same thing: Join our church, or you can't be saved. One of the very first things that I loved about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is that, by its teaching, there is a place for EVERYONE in heaven. Where other churches have damnation, this church has hope. Where other churches have mysteries, this church has answers. I know what will happen when I die, and I know that I'm exactly where God wants me to be as a member of this church. I'm a Mormon because I know I'm a daughter of God.

How I live my faith

I love being an active church member! One of the things the church stresses the most is service. When I serve others, I just feel good! A few months ago, my stake had a Day of Service, where we all went out and cleaned up a neighborhood. Some of the people who lived in the area saw us and decided to help us work. Service is contagious! I also love sharing my faith with others. Most of my friends are not members, and I'm the only Mormon in my family. Telling others about the church and The Book of Mormon gives me so much joy because I get to share something I love with them. When I can clear up misconceptions and rumors about the church, It feels awesome to know I've made someone's opinion of Mormons a little better. I love my church, and I love serving my Heavenly Father.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon is just plain awesome. As a fairly recent convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I've never felt happier in my life. The Mormon lifestyle is different, but it's amazingly fulfilling! By replacing bad habits and actions with ones that are pleasing to my Heavenly Father, I have had so much peace and joy that I never knew before I joined the church. I once thought Mormons were crazy for devoting so much of their lives to their faith. While members of other faiths went to church on Sunday and didn't mention or think about it for the rest of the week, the Mormons were always talking about their church. You KNEW they were Mormons. Now that I'm a member, I know exactly why that was. Mormons live for their church because they love their church. They know that, to follow Christ and to be more like Him, it is essential to have Him on your mind and in your heart at all times. You have to live God's laws and follow His commandments. If you do, God will pour out his blessings upon you. While it's easier said than done, living on the straight and narrow path is the most rewarding thing we can do here on Earth. I firmly believe that there is no better, easier, or truer way to do that than by being a Mormon. Show more Show less
