Hi I'm Shelby

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Northern Arizona on the Navajo Reservation. Used the open range to my full capacity by picking up the old basketball, riding up and down dirt roads with whether it be a dirtbike or a horse, and hiking along some sweet trails. I love my Navajo culture and being able to share. I have been studying to become a Physical Therapist but put a hold on it to serve a mission. I am currently serving in the Maryland Baltimore Mission and its a Blast!

Why I am a Mormon

In this Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints it focuses a lot on family and that was what captured my focus. I didn't grow up in the church and I was baptized when I was 15. I found myself growing to love the truthfulness of the church and all the blessing I have received. This church just has solid foundations to grow and be happy, such as the only way I could raise a family and make it through this life is to follow the guidance of the scriptures, prophets, our living prophet, have family home evening, family/personal prayer, scripture study, attend the temple often, and follow the Family Proclamation. As I serve a mission I have been taught that my first and foremost culture is the gospel of Jesus Christ. Yes, I am Navajo, but “I am Mormon. I know. I live. I love it.” The motto I strive to live by is “find joy in the journey”- President Thomas S. Monson. The gospel is true and I know that as I put the Lord first in my life my journey will continue to be bright and full of unlimited opportunities to grow. This church makes me a happier person.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my hardest to do whatever the Lord asks of me but most importantly I try to love everyone. I believe strongly in service and helping others it is through helping others that I have found the greatest satisfaction in my life. I try to follow Jesus Christ's example and be a better person.
