Hi I'm Michelle

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was a college student at SUU. I am a pre-nursing major. I was born and raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I love the gospel, and I am currently a missionary for the church. Because of the missionary age change, I was able to leave at 19, and will return home when I am 21. I am so excited to be serving the Lord and teaching the gospel to the people of Texas.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, not just because I was born into the church, but because I want to be. I have grown to love this church. I have a strong testimony that this church was restored by Joseph Smith. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ know and love every person on this earth. I know that Jesus Christ atoned for all of our sins and died for us because of that great love that He has for us. I know that Jesus was resurrected and that He lives now. I know that we can all make it back to live with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ if we just will live worthily and keep the commandments. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading my scriptures everyday, doing service for those around me, praying to my Heavenly Father and asking for guidance, and attending church every Sunday. I also live my faith by serving my mission. If I didn't have faith in Jesus Chirst and His church, I wouldn't be on my mission right now.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

As a missionary, I have saved up some money to pay for my mission as well as have had help from my parents. We are not wealthy people, but we are sacrificing so that I can serve a mission. I am not getting paid to be a missionary, and I am responsible to pay for it. It is worth all the time and money that I am giving to serve the Lord and the people here where I am serving. It is an amazing experience to help others come closer to Christ and have greater joy in their lives. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Baptism is a sacred ordinance where we make covenants or promises with God. We promise to take Christ's name upon us (to follow him, and try to be like him), to always remember Him, and to keep the commandments. These are important covenants and help to bring us closer to God. Our relationship with Heavenly Father and our Savior are strengthened and we are numbered among those in His church. We follow Christ's example when we are baptized the same way He was by the same authority. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

When we die, our spirits go to what is called the spirit world. For those who lived righteously here, it is a place of peace and rest. For those who didn't have the chance to learn about Jesus Christ and His gospel, they are taught the gospel and given the option to accept Christ as their Savior or not. In 1 Peter 4:6 it talks about how the gospel is preached to the dead. Once Christ comes again, we will all be resurrected, which means that our spirit will return to our bodies and our bodies will be perfected. Then we are judged for our works and our desires. We will go to one of 3 places. The Celestial Kingdom is where God and Jesus Christ live. The Terrestrial Kingdom is a lower kingdom that is for people who lived good lives, but didn't accept Christ's gospel. The Telestial Kingdom is the lowest kingdom where those who chose not to repent will go. The Celestial Kingdom should be our goal and is where God and Jesus Christ want us. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Family is very important because we can be together forever, not just until we die. We are eternal families and will be together forever as long as we live righteously. My family is important to me because they are always there to help and support me. They also give me hope and help when I am struggling. I am grateful for my family and the knowledge I have that I can be with them forever. :) Show more Show less
