Hi I'm Jon

My pride and joy is my family. I have a beautiful wife and two wonderful sons.

About Me

I work as a Senior Technical Associate for a large lighting manufacturing plant in Kentucky. I really like reading and playing my guitar. In addition to working full time I am also taking online college courses to get my Bachelor's degree in Business Management. I am sometimes accused of being too cheerful, but I know it takes fewer muscles to smile than to frown. So I'm really just relaxing in an enjoyable way!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church but gained my own testimony in my early teens. My mother passed away when I was 8 years old after she suffered for years with cancer. After her death I also suffered with a lot of depression and had a lot of self-esteem issues. One night I cried with all my heart to know if God lived and if He loved me. At that time I was in the depth of despair and sorrow. After my prayer, a powerful feeling of intense love, light and joy completely enveloped me from my head to my toes. It was as though someone had just turned on the light and I could finally see clearly. I was filled with so much joy and love from God that I wished that feeling would never end. I marveled that my overwhelming depression and sorrow could so suddenly be turned to such great joy and happiness. I know that God lives and that he loves me. I also believe this love from God extends to all His children. My belief in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints comes from my experience above and many others. By applying the teachings of the church and reading and pondering the Book of Mormon I have felt a powerful witness of the truth of this church. The Book of Mormon is truly a sacred scripture and a strong witness of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. I am grateful for these teachings and those found in the Holy Bible and other modern day scriptures.

How I live my faith

I have had many callings at church to serve others. I have served in leadership and teaching positions. My favorite calling was teaching the Gospel Essentials class. I enjoyed the interaction with others in the class and the great spirit and enthusiasm they would bring. I served for many years as a Boy Scout leader and enjoyed working with the young men and the great ideals of scouting.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Jon
We do not worship Joseph Smith, we only worship God our Father and Jesus Christ who we accept as the son born of a virgin and is indeed the very son of God. That Jesus Christ has risen from the grave and His victory over death enables all who have lived to be resurrected. We honor Joseph Smith as the Lord's chosen prophet who restored the gospel and priesthood in preparation for the second coming of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
