Hi I'm Woody

I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints also known as Mormons.

About Me

My name is Woody, born and raised in South Carolina. I am one of three children raised in a mill village in humble circumstances. I was raised by loving parents in a part member family. What I may have lacked in material possessions I made up for in the love I felt by my family. Now I am a father of three married children and ten beautiful grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother was a member and I was born into the church. At the age of 9 I chose to be baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I chose to follow Jesus Christ's example and to live for him and obey the commandments that one day I could return through him to live with Heavenly Father. At the age of 66 I have a testimony to share with the world that I know Heavenly Father lives and is over all and I know that he loves me and I love him. I am so thankful for his plan of salvation that he sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to atone for my sins and for his redeeming powers and I know that he is my personal Savior. I love my brother Jesus Christ. I testify that the Holy Ghost is a third member of the Godhead and he testifies of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I have felt his love in teaching me, comforting me and guiding me in righteousness throughout life. I love the Holy Ghost for his wonderful guidance and promptings of the truth. I love Joseph Smith our first prophet for his obedience in following Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and for his willingness to translate the book of Mormon. I know that the Holy Bible and the book of Mormon are two testaments of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Each day my bride of 47 years and I have companionship prayer together morning and evening. I have personal prayer multiple times a day and depend on the Holy Ghost to guide me in all my decisions. I read the scriptures often and fast for others, but most of all I serve my fellow man to the best of my ability. I know I am blessed by the Lord daily in all that I do. I am blessed to be lead by the Holy Ghost on a daily basis. I know Heavenly Father lives and is over all. His son Jesus Christ is our Savior, Redeemer and atoned for our sins. I know that Joseph Smith was our first latter day prophet; he gave his life to further the Lord's work on earth. I am thankful for our living prophet Thomas S. Monson and for the revelation he receives from the Lord each day. I am thankful that he teaches us the things that have been revealed to him.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Woody
Yes they do: Mormons believe, revere and love the Holy Bible. We see it as a powerful, important, and sacred holy record which serves as the bedrock of all Christianity. The Bible is rich in history, doctrine, stories, sermons and testimonies, all of which witness that Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of our Heavenly Father. The Bible is the word of God and came from the writings of holy men of God as they were moved upon by the Holy Ghost (see 2 Peter 1:20-21). Through the same process we have additional Holy Scripture, including the Book of Mormon, which supports and exalts the Bible. Show more Show less
