Hi I'm Nemani

The name is Fijian but we live in New Zealand. Im a student, a basketball and rugby supporter. Im a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in New Zealand but my family and I moved back to Fiji where I spent my childhood till just before 8 when we moved back to New Zealand for the final time. I attended the local boys high school where I lived and developed a love for study, basketball, and Rugby. I went to university when I was 18 and studied frist year health science, where i applied for medicine and was offered a place at the end of the year. I did 2 more years after that before taking a break to serve a mission for the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. Things that are most dear to me is my faith, my family, food, and basketball.

Why I am a Mormon

My Parents were baptized long before I was born. As I grew up they taught me the Gospel and how much this meant to them. I took notice of this and saw many blessing that came to them and our family as a result of their faith and our membership in the church. As a result, and for a long time, that was enough for me. I went through my primary, and high school years content with knowing that this is something that has blessed my family; why fix something that was not broken? So that was how it was until I went to university. Surrounded by the stressors of my own expectations, the influence of others and discouragement, for the first ever time in my life I found myself questioning - God are you there? That question was answered as I followed some inspired advice given by my father who was unaware of the conflict I was going through. He told me simply to read the Book of Mormon, and so I did. It was a few weeks later as I found myself in my room at university reading the Book of Mormon when God spoke to me through the words written in this book. It wasn't a voice or anything but as I read, an overwhelming feeling of warmth, love and confidence enveloped me and I knew at that very moment that God was speaking to me and that He loved me. I knew from that that the Book of Mormon had to be true and that this was His church. That feeling was the Holy Ghost and that witness I received began a spiritual journey that continues to this day.

How I live my faith

While I was studying at university I was given a responsibility in my church to teach 8-11 year old children about the Gospel. I Loved it so much, and I learnt more then I could have imagined. After 3 years of university, I decided to put my studies on hold and go serve a mission for my church. Why? Because I know this is true and it makes me happy, truly. To those who are reading who may question (understandably) the things I have mentioned, I would give the same advice my father gave me; read the book of Mormon. Then ask God and see for yourself.
