Hi I'm Maddey

I am a family historian, a sister and a friend, a lover of bowling, and I am Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small southern town in Georgia where I discovered the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of 12. I was the first member of my family to be baptized in the church and have been strong in the church since then. Growing up I enjoyed dance, soccer, and playing the flute in concert band and marching band. When I graduated high school I moved to Utah to begin my undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University. Currently I am majoring in Family History and Genealogy and working as a researcher at BYU's Family History Center.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I studied the beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and prayed to know they were true and found my answer that they are true. I have learned so much about my Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and my plan in this life by studying the scriptures and having faith that there is a purpose for all of us in this life. I have grown to know the simple truths of the church and of the plan that Heavenly Father has for all of his children. My faith and my knowledge of the church have brought me great joy and happiness and I can't wait to see how it will continue to bless my life.

How I live my faith

One of the hardest challenges of living my faith is how my faith affects my family. My mom and I are the only members of the church in our family and have spent the past years developing faith that allows us to be members of the church while strengthening our family. Over the years my dad has become more supportive of us in our religious beliefs and has taken interest in learning about what we believe as he has come to know that our beliefs are centered on the importance of family. I do my best to invite my family to church and church activities and answer any questions that they have about what I believe. Currently, I am living my faith by preparing to serve an 18-month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I hope that the devotion that I am giving to this preparation shows my family how strong my faith is.
