Hi I'm Nichelle

I am from Erie, Pennsylvania and am currently attending Brigham Young University-Idaho for Elementary Education. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently going to school at Brigham Young University-Idaho for Elementary Education. I am the oldest out of my three siblings. I have not served a mission of the Church but on June 17, 2014 I went through the temple for the first time.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member my whole life, and I continue in the gospel, because I have read about the Book of Mormon and I had a distinct feeling that the church was true.

How I live my faith

I am part of a group in my stake and we help to plan youth activities and we also plan youth conferences, when youth go and get to together and we do many spiritual and fun activities over the space of two days.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Nichelle
Mormon's perform proxy baptisms in the temple, because baptism is an important part of the plan of salvation and it is the first step in the plan of salvation. There are many people who have died and were not able to be baptized by the proper authority, so we find the people who were not baptized with the proper authority and we can then get baptized on behalf of them. Many members do proxy baptisms for their ancestor, but if they do not have any family names, the temple will provide names for the proxy's. Once someone has done a proxy baptism, the person that has died then has the decision to accept the baptism or reject it. Show more Show less
