Hi I'm Brinden Elton

Grew up in Jersey, love New York Bagels, would love to learn Hebrew, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I really enjoy being around passionate people, and as a result I've done a lot of different things throughout my life so far. I'm a practicing martial artist, have a few years of ballroom dancing to my name, several acting nominations for the state of New Jersey, the Putnam math competion problems blow my mind, and nothing beats a long night of Thermodynamic or charge-mass balance problems in chemistry! I'm a big fan of fantasy literature such as the Wheel of Time, Lord of The Rings, anything by Dianna Wyne Jones, as well as James Joyce. Language has always been a passion of mine, and I love learning to speak people's language, whether it be socially, culturally or linguistically. Communication holds a joy and excitement to me that is matched by few other activities. (The language of the Spirit topping all others, naturally.)

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Well, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has given me answers and peace that I cannot find anywhere else. I love the Old Testament and the prophesies of Isaiah, and the Church has helped me realize how to use all of my passions to draw closer to my Heavenly Father. The need for proper authority and the concept of a living prophet rings to true to me that I feel His love just talking about it. Honestly, it just makes the most sense out of anything else that I've researched and tried out. The Book of Mormon blows my mind as to it's complexity and simplicity all rolled into one magnificent book. I stand by my father and my ancestors when I assert my claim that the Book of Mormon is true, that President Thomas S. Monson is the Lord's prophet here on the earth, and that the Church of Jesus Christ is the Lord's church once again established on the earth, preperatory to the Second Coming of the Messiah. (Introduction to the Book of Mormon)

How I live my faith

Live my faith? How can I not? The Lord went about "doing good" continually. Every day I strive to be a little better than I was the day before, and to be a little better tomorrow than I was today. I strive to find opportunities to serve in little ways, such as being a friend to those who may not have many, comforting someone who's had a rough day and could use someone to talk to. Mourning with those that mourn and comforting those that stand in need of comfort is what the church is all about (Mosiah 18:8-10) I strive to live the lessons I am taught in the scriptures and to share those teachings with those around me. I strive, because I know that I often fall short, but that's part of the beauty of it! Each week I renew my covenants to take the Lord's name upon me and to keep His commandments and always remember him. Not only that, but I can repent daily and feel of His love as I try to listen to the still small voice of the Holy Ghost.
